The departure from the franchise’s earlier style drew criticism. The game’s developers aimed for a fresh start by introducing a new city, characters, and storylines, but long-time fans felt that it strayed too far from the elements that made the series popular in the first place. As a result, the reception was polarising, with some players enjoying the new direction while others lamented the loss of the franchise’s signature charm and humour. I think it's worth noting that there was a pre-release patch that released about a week ago, during the review process. Santo Ileso is also filled with plenty of interesting locales and dynamic events; NPCs will interact with each other and the environment in limited ways; police pull over cars; and signs of road work move around the city. However, the city as a whole doesn't always feel like an actual place. Despite the assortment of unique features, not every area feels hand-crafted or intentionally placed. It's a decidedly minor complaint but difficult to entirely dismiss when other modern open-world games continue to improve in this area.

In the GameRevolution review, I noted the problem with takedown animations occurring far away from the enemy. Unfortunately, this is not included in the list of known issues. Take to the Streets and the Skies – Blast through urban and desert environments in any one of the cars, bikes, planes, helicopters, VTOLs, hoverbikes, hoverboards, go-karts or equip your wingsuit to swoop around. With the impending launch of Deep Silver’s next big title, Dead Island 2, and that it’s nearly 8 months to the day since Saints Row launched, I thought it a good time to revisit Saints Row and see what state the game is in today and give it a fresh look. A more noticeable – and ideally fixed issue – is a graphical issue when drifting a vehicle. There’s this weird ghosting coming off the vehicle’s panels. I don’t know if it’s an intended effect, but if it is it’s a poor one and should be removed or the issue resolved.

Saints Row is the kind of game that caps out at a 7 no matter what. It's very dated in its design, but it's good fun if you can stomach the open world busywork. Sooner or later, you’re gonna need the perfect weapon. Change almost every aspect of your weapon’s looks.While we don’t know exactly what the day one patch will contain, the developer has provided a list of “known issues” that are presumably going to be targeted in upcoming patches.

That said, for a game you just want to have fun and not take it seriously, I would say 7/10 is probably an accurate score for that kind of game. The map becomes increasingly coated in activity icons as you progress through the main narrative, to the point where the map screen actually stops displaying certain types of markers, and moves them to their own separate tab. Here in 2022, it comes across as overkill — the kind of bloat that would make even a Ubisoft title blush. But through its consistently over-the-top gameplay and penchant for stupidity, Saints Row just about manages to get away with its brazen content padding.

Players can look forward to plenty of explosive action and mayhem here. Many of the environmental details in Saints Row (2022) are happy to be destroyed, including fences, light posts and traffic lights, benches and sculptures, trees and foliage, and more. Set in the fictional city of Santo Ileso, the game puts players in control of a customizable character, as they establish a criminal empire, engage in combat, and complete missions. The Idols are an anarchist cult, intent on bringing down “the system”—i.e. the entire social, cultural, political, and economic structure of the day—through acts of violence and mayhem. What, exactly, they intend to replace that structure with they’re a little fuzzy on. But man, oh man, do they want to bring it all down. And they have chosen Santo Ileso as the place to make their statement. Adjust the material including the colour on individual parts. Change textures; go glossy or metallic.. make it rough or smooth and add decals if you want to.
