About this deal

Some of them are quite funny; I like the one with Ryuk being unable to eat a snack Misa made because they looked too cute. In fact, in my opinion, he’s the perfect example of the most dangerous kind of man – a charismatic one who manages to convince so many people that he’s right. All in all, this was an okay volume for fans of the original series, but not essential reading unless, for some reason, you want to see more of Near in action (although "Near inaction" is probably more accurate). It was mostly for fun, even if some of the jokes were meh, and it came with a downside, they were incredibly short bonuses. I wish these had been placed at the end, so that I would have had a more positive outlook going into them.

Some of the completed manuscripts for this chapter were released at Obata's Never Complete Exhibition in 2019. The A-Kira story was my favourite, and I really liked the Whammy’s House short story (the L - One Day story and the four panel comics weren’t to my liking though). Ryuk sees to it that a boy named Minoru Tanaka gets a Death Note, figuring that a kid like him, who's done well on tests like Light, will last longer than the previous new Kira and provide him with more opportunities to eat apples.More Hamburger icon An icon used to represent a menu that can be toggled by interacting with this icon. Interestingly, we never get to see the new ‘Kira’ in this story, only their actions and their passing told via the Shinigami, and in a way it doesn’t matter who they are – but their short life and actions show that not everyone has the mental capacity to deal with the consequences of the book, considering that a lot of ‘copycat’ murders emerged when the series took off, it’s almost like the series tried to de-sensationalise the effect that Light character had as a result of the Death Note. When I heard there would be a Death Note short story collection, to say I was excited was an understatement! They’re two very short and comical stories centred on our favourite eccentric detective outside of Sherlock.

The Four-Panel stories are a bunch of comical 4-panel stories, usually centred on Light, L or both, with some even taking place during the four-year gap that happens within the original story. If you own the (now out of print) ‘Volume 13: How to Read’ then you also already own these manga shorts. While most of the stories in this volume are far from being something new, it is a great addition to have all of them in one place, especially now that they are all available in English. We build and maintain all our own systems, but we don’t charge for access, sell user information, or run ads.It kinda reminds me of how I feel about The Purge’s setup of “for 12 hours, all crime is legal” and wondering why everyone immediately jumps to murder.

This helps guide him to his own decision when he gets a hold of the notebook, which differs from how others use it in the other short stories. There are also plenty of cameos from fan-favorite characters such as Near, and depictions of how Light Yagami changed the world. Ryuk asks if they treat him like a God, but Minoru says that Ethics taught his class that Kira was evil, while History said that he was a crazy mass murderer. No aporta gran cosa a la historia original pero si eres fan te gustará seguir en el mundo de los Shiringamis. This is especially true when you compare his story to the characters in Death Note Short Stories, which I actually found a lot more compelling than the original series – and I LIKE the original.

Ryuk states that the rules are on the first few pages but Minoru says he doesn't know how to read English and to translate it for him.

The Death Note has its own rules to abide by, which Light twists and manipulates to achieve his goal of eradicating criminals from the world. While there isn't much action in this installment, there is quite a bit of lore added to the universe of the Death Note. That on its own makes the collection an excellent addition to any Death Note fan's collection, but many are more curious about the many lore implications the volume provides. In Japan they were originally published in 2008, to promote the L: Change the WorLd novel, but this is the first time they’ve been translated into English.
