Audio quality for music is also fantastic. They're not HD600's, but considering you don't need any external gear to power them and the price, they are wonderful headphones for music listening. I listen to a variety of genres on my iPhone using Apple Music, and everything comes through crystal clear, with lovely highs, warm mids and present but respectful lows. They aren't super bassy with a default EQ, but this can probably be boosted if you want additional bass. Thus, if you're really keen to get some Sennheiser audio quality into your setup but can't stretch to the larger price tags of the more premium headsets, then the GSP 300 is the right choice. Its compatibility with every device is a major plus, while it retains the Sennheiser excellence in audio (detailed sound, excellent surround/directional accuracy, and great overall richness). Its microphone is good too, though this won't be great for mobile players or for the commute as the mic is non-detachable and a little wobbly on the design front. The latter being a little weak point on the headset overall, actually, as it feels a bit wobbly in the hands. CLEAR AMBIANCE-FREE COMMUNICATION The noise-cancelling microphone is designed for high-volume low-distance recording and is optimized to handle unpleasant pops and hisses—great for gaming Skype calls and video chatting.Weirdly the FR isn't tuned to either of the 2 traditional ways gaming headsets are tuned. It’s not v-shaped for immersive fun and it doesn't really have any tuning quirks of a competitive fps headset. It's not bright, it doesn't have slightly forward mids, there is no big bass roll-off. It's very much tuned for a musical tonal balance. Con queste invece è tutta un'altra storia. Nascono come un paio di ottime cuffie da studio alle quali è stato montato un microfono tipico delle periferiche da gaming e questo gli permette di eccellere per ogni tipo di utilizzo che se ne vuole fare. The PC38X is on the natural/warm-neutral side of tonal balancing, with bass that is linear and extends quite low, without sounding thin, nor emphasized. I'd consider it bass neutral, which will fit whatever you're listening to. Give EDM with a thumping bass line, and you'll find the PC38X thumping and rumbling with the best of them. Not any more, not any less than needed.

There's a surprising oomph to the bass response on these headphones, and that's not what I'd have guessed these would've sounded like before I put them on. There's still tons of that typical Sennheiser definition in the high-end, but right the way through the mids and bass there's a well-defined response. The design is similar to the 300s, sure, but the build quality is also great and worthy of the price tag; it's excellently solid, robust, and clamps to your head and ears incredibly comfortably. Even the suede-y ear cups are lovely. And on top of that, you of course get premium Sennheiser audio quality to go with it. This is the one debatable area in comfort for me, as it tends to be with most Sennheiser headphones. The PC38X isn't exactly super heavy on clamp, but it is moderate and enough for me to feel to stretch it out over some game/dvd cases. I do feel some unwanted pressure from the area around my ears due to the clamp. Not much, but enough to remove the headphones at random intervals to relieve some of that pressure. It's really no big deal, and something you grow accustomed to with Sennheiser headphones. The upside is the very secure fit you will always have with the PC38X. I find that setting the extension to be more than what you feel is your optimal length, can relieve some of that pressure. Frankly, I'm not a huge fan of aesthetics on the GSP line of Sennheiser headsets, so I'm quite thankful the PC line of headsets exists, as I find them to look much more elegant and classy, compared to the bulkier, gamery nature of the GSP line. Personal preference, of course. So this is a weird one. The HD58x is supposed to be a budget way to get an HD600 series headphone. It offers the same style of narrow 3 blob staging and has the same forward upper midrange that makes vocals pop. But from a technical performance, it is a fair bit behind the HD6xx. It's kinda an HD599 driver in an HD600 housing. Giving you HD599 performance but HD6xx presentation.

This is an exceptionally light model for the spec - just 322g. As such, it’s not carrying the timber most high-end headsets do. You’ll find no needless brushed steel accents here. Just lightweight plastics and soft cloth cushions around an aluminium band. Neat features like the detachable mic and its swappable magnetised cover do impress, and this is good wireless headset money. The PC38X can fill out a room quite nicely, and is absolutely brilliant when applying a virtual surround dsp for video games and other media, like movies.
Long, drawn-out gaming sessions aren’t a hassle at all with these thanks to their generously padded, well-spaced ear cups and they present an overall build that’s solid and definitely built to last. Overall, I'd find it hard to call the PC38X warm-warm, or bright. It sits in between, if just slightly warm. A testament to Sennheiser's prowess in tonal balancing. The spacious soundstage, sharp details, great tonal balancing, top notch extension both down low and up top make the PC38X a prime candidate for best gaming headset. In virtual surround, the PC38X is among the very best I've heard for accuracy, positional awareness, and object definition. Testing something like Call of Duty's Warzone with both Dolby Headphone 2, and Creative's SBX, I was extremely aware of where all my enemies were coming from, and where all the loot was in my general vicinity. For the PC38X, it's a very simple matter. Just stellar positional cues, soundstage depth, and great imaging. Rest assured, the PC38X is a monster for gaming. You can't do wrong here in choosing the PC38X for all your gaming needs.

While it's not massively dissimilar to the GSP 300 headset above, the GSP 500 does manage to distinguish itself in some key areas. First, the microphone is excellent. Really excellent. As soon as I started using it, my teammates commented on the quality and clarity of it. The tuning is fantastic, putting it in the top tuned headphones at any price. But the technical performance lets it down slightly, at its price it's not terrible, in fact like I said at the beginning, the sound is overall average to above average in all ways. So this is a gaming headset that can trade blows outside of gaming headsets. Which is very impressive. But not surprising as the PC37x was already better than most gaming headsets, and the PC38x sound wise is better in most ways over its predecessor. First and foremost, this is an excellent headset. I am sold on this brand. If/when my current PC38x gives out, I will be buying a new one or purchasing the successor, whichever is out at the time. If you are on the fence - just buy it! I really wish I could give these 5 stars. The unfortunate reality is that I noticed problems on the right side early on. About 2 weeks in. The audio would cut out but return. I thought it could have been a lose connection so I didn't think much of it. 2 months later it became a recurring issue that could be remedied by physically pressing on the right ear cup. Now it's really grown to be a frequent problem that I choose to deal with because I spent over a 100 on these and not to mention I really liked the idea of the headset. I would have liked to seen a Y cable adapter for the longer cable that joins both audio/chat together into one TRRS plug, for people whose devices are considerably further than 1.2m.This is really the area where it does the worse, its definitely an HD500 series level headphone, which is a shame since the tuning is so darn good. Clarity is overall fine but it doesn't do an amazing job with Micro Detail as it has a sort of dull edge to it. It's not a low res headset or anything. You also won't get a lot extra out of it with better source gear. Since it's fairly efficient and easy to drive it doesn't have a lot of scalability. I do find the mesh pad to be a tad more comfortable and more breathable, but the velour pad I think feels way better against your skin.
