This isn’t a new premise, but I loved how this story unraveled, including a few surprising twists and a surprise ending. No, this story isn't very original and reminds me of the movie "Knives Out", but I'm still entertained from start to finish. I read Lapena’s “The Couple Next Door” in addition to this and now I want to read even more of her books! The process encompassed the entire book and with the author’s minimalist writing style, it was a quick and easy read which really appealed to me. The author does a nice job of showing how basic investigative work begins to unravel the Merton siblings’ alibis.This deliciously tart read about rich-people problems is one of the most purely enjoyable mysteries we’ve read in a minute. Eldest daughter Catherine and her husband, leave in a huff, followed closely behind by beleaguered middle child, Dan and his wife, Lisa. She likes to put on one of her many colorful Hermès scarves, check her lipstick in the rearview mirror, and go out to meet friends. Lapena does what she does best, so much so that trying to put the book down is futile Once you start reading, you won't want to stop. That's the Merton family for you and now the Merton parents are dead and the lies and accusations are flying among the grown children.
And I will make it my personal mission to make sure you are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Irena has a solid alibi, however; she points out that all the Merton kids know where she keeps her spare keys.

Lapena’s latest another chilling thrill ride…All those clichés about being unable to put down a book, for once they’re true. The best twisty mysteries drop hints the whole way thru; after a big twist, you can go back and find parts of the story that foreshadow what's to come.
You don’t even do any of the work yourself – you have a gardening company, a snow removal service, Irena does all the cleaning. Readers then learn what happened Easter night: Jenna, after fighting with her father about the money, plotted to murder her parents.This is a QUICK read, I flew through the pages because I had to know who did it and what really happened. They were never a happy family, thanks to their vindictive father and neglectful mother, but perhaps one of the siblings is more disturbed than anyone knew. The fact that we have a plethora of possible killers is another factor that really drives up the suspense in the tale . With wholly unlikeable characters and a fast paced plot, this book will keep you guessing until the last page!
