It has a 41 hours power reserve, no hand-winding and no stop seconds hand function. Ref. This is an affordable watch that isn’t really designed for water wear and as such has a relatively basic water resistance rating. A 30m or 3 bar rating makes this watch suitable for everyday use. The Seiko SNK803’s sporty, casual look is finished off with a rugged beige canvas strap which wonderfully complements the watch’s dial. If you are not familiar with canvas straps, this type of strap is frequently paired with outdoor watches due to their portability, comfort, and most importantly, its waterproof capabilities. Straps made of nylon, fabric, and leather perform terribly when exposed to wet surfaces, which can result in damage to the strap. Overall I’m a big fan of the whole SNK series, typically the SNK809 is the most popular, however, I’d definitely consider going for this model next. The 7S26 automatic movement at the heart of the watch is a popular workhorse movement that’s favoured in the community. It’s a great timepiece that offers a good level of quality for a very reasonable price in my opinion.Seiko provided a great base and their newer movement swapped right in with minimal modification. I learned a lot in the process and will possibly look to do a proper Mil Spec version in the future. Show me your SNKs, WUS! As for the crown: It is an oem SNK crown, but I have chosen to not trim the NH36A's stem down quite as far. I could not find an option for sourcing a longer crown. I am unsure if this actually will make much of a difference with water resistance, as to begin with, the crown did not recess as close to the case as it could have. This leads me to believe the only actual waterproofing is the rubber gasket on the crown stem that is still in position to do its job as far as I can tell. Please comment if you have any insight to add here. Either way, I would never swim with this watch and wouldn't have to begin with. I may look in to pressure testing for education purposes. Something about the Seiko 5’s bead blasted, matte finish bezel is so aesthetically pleasing. And I prefer it over the shiny chrome appearance of the Timex Weekender. 4) First Love A silver chapter ring is placed around the centre of the dial, bearing bright red indicators for the 13th to 24th hours. Along with the watch’s vibrant red seconds hand, these red indicators are highly legible and serve to add a pop of colour to this monochrome watch face. The dial is also adorned with tritium gas tubes that serve as hour markers. These tritium gas tubes will light up in the dark, allowing wearers to read the watch’s face even at night.
