Emelda, the main character of this book, is absolutely amazing and someone I could see myself quickly making friends with! This will be a scenario familiar to many and whilst the title doesn't necessarily resonate with me this book is most certainly worth the time and I think it works well as a short story to encourage adult literacy - this is something I think other reviewers have forgotten when complaining it is too short.

Quantitative Ingredients: Sodium Carbonate, Cream of Tartar, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glycerine, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Olibanum Oil, Bergamot Oil, Geranium Oil, Benzyl Alcohol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool, Colour 45350, Colour 45410. It ends in a nice fluffy romantic, kind of silly way but the second act deals with themes of abuse and manipulation from the ex husband - he is not a nice man at all. This overpowering scent reminds me a little of the woody note that you find in both Lush's Breath of God and The Voice Of Reason perfumes.

Although they both have a strawberry scent, Strawberry Feels is more of a gentle, milkshake sort of smell, whereas this ballistic has quite a dominant musky aroma. Though the subject material is dense, covering emotional abuse and gas lighting, Ahern sprinkles in humor and lightness with plenty of hope. I like to mix dark with light, sadness with humour, always keeping a balance, and always bringing the story to a place of hope. Her memories are tied to food, all in some way connected to ice cream, and it fits cleanly into the narrative.Writing Holly’s journey helped me find my own path, writing PS I Love You brought both Holly and I to a more positive place in our lives and that is what I continue to do with my novels. It was entertaining in parts and I feel it has helped me get a better understanding of how these abusers operate. In its defence, Mrs Whippy does retain its aroma for the duration of the bath and you can detect hints of the scent on your skin hours after bathing.

Like I said, I can't detail much more because of the short read, but trust me you just MUST pick up this book and read it. S. However once dissolved, this ballistic leaves a rather murky looking bath water so it wouldn't win any awards for that. Her husband Charlie Holt (Mr Whippy) has left her for a younger woman (a 23-year-old dancer) and she is struggling to bring up her children.
