About this deal

X-Men '97 is a revival of the original X-Men: The Animated Series from the 1990s that will continue right where that storyline left off. The Wrap has also reported that many of the original voice actors from the first show will be returning to their characters, including Wolverine's Cal Dodd, Rogue's Lenore Zann, Beast's George Buza, and more. In addition to familiar voices, Jennifer Hale, Ray Chase, and many more will join the cast. Beau DeMayo will serve as executive producer and head writer.

Sony’s Spider-Man spin-offs started strong with Venom, but the less said about Morbius, the better. Taylor-Johnson plays Sergei Kravinoff, who is about as iconic as they come in terms of Spidey rogues. He’s joined by Fred Hechinger as Dimitri Kravinoff, who is not only Kraven’s brother, but the villainous Chameleon. The cast is rounded off by Ariana DeBose as Calypso and a mysterious role for Russell Crowe. Following her appearance in Hawkeye, Alaqua Cox's Maya Lopez/Echo is getting her own show. Echo will get a Netflix-style release, too, with all five episodes launching at once. It's still expected to launch in late November but, according to reports, it might be delayed until January 2024 (per The Hollywood Reporter). Joining Thorne, Anthony Ramos plays the Hood, who is supposed to be an ally of Riri but looks like he could be the main villain. Solo’s Alden Ehrenreich has also been cast, while we’re breaking new ground for LGBTQ+ with RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Shea Couleé in a mystery role. Following her breakout role in Wakanda Forever, Dominique Thorne is taking flight as Riri Williams for Ironheart. This young genius is known as the protégé of Tony Stark in the comics, but with Iron Man out of action, she’s going it alone.

X-Men Reboot

And now with all that uncertainty out of the way, we’re on to the projects that have definite release dates in 2024… Daredevil: Born Again

CHILDREN love to celebrate their favourite superheroes, so what better way to start the festive season than with one of the best Marvel advent calendars. Anthony Ramos ( In The Heights) will play Parker Robbins, aka The Hood, who specializes in dark magic. There are rumors that Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) will portray Mephisto, a previously rumored WandaVision villain, too. Elden Ehrenreich ( Solo: A Star Wars Story) is also part of the cast, as is Anji White (per Deadline), but we don't know who they're playing. Marvel will break release tradition in major way with this one, dropping all the Echo episodes at once for binging! Madame Web Bath time has never been so fun with these Avengers-inspired bath bombs Credit: Adventcalendar.co.uk At San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige said that X-Men and Fantastic Four were on the way to the MCU in some form. Nothing has been confirmed since regarding a live-action X-Men project, but in a Disney investors call in December, 2020, Feige confirmed that a FF movie was in the works from Spider-Man 1-3 director Jon Watts. However, in April, 2022, the news broke that Watts was stepping away from the film and the hunt for a new director was underway. There are more ties to the old days thanks to former director Larry Houston and showrunners Eric and Julia Lewald consulting on the series. X-Men ‘97 will be the first fully-produced Marvel Studios series not to be part of the MCU, although Professor X’s appearance in Multiverse of Madness might suggest otherwise. Ironheart – 2023? The Marvels will see a female superhero-only team up on the big screen for the first time. Well, if you discount the Avengers: Endgame's all-female superhero scene. This Marvel LEGO is going to last you long beyond the Christmas countdown, and you can always add to your collection from the wider Marvel Lego range.

Speaking of WandaVision, writer Megan McDonnell co-wrote the screenplay alongside DaCosta, Elissa Karasik, and Zeb Wells. The Marvels is described as more of a small-scale team-up while we wait for that rumored all-female Avengers movie. The storyline might be shrouded in secrecy, but we’ve got some theories. Captain Marvel 2, which is now called The Marvels, is coming, with Nia DaCosta directing. Teyonah Parris will return from WandaVision as the adult Monica Rambeau alongside Brie Larson's Carol Danvers, and the film will also feature Ms. Marvel, played by Iman Vellani, who was introduced in the Ms. Marvel Disney+ series.

The Marvels

Sony is muscling in on the action with the follow-up to the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. There are more Spider-People than ever, but once again, it’s Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) who are front and center of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, the press were treated to a first look at the series and saw many of the returning characters, including Rogue, Beast, Gambit, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Storm, Jubilee, and Cyclops. Magneto also made an appearance and said, "You’re looking at the new leader of the X-Men." It was also revealed Cable, Bishop, Forge, Morph, Nightcrawler, and Sunspot would be returning as well. is shaping up to be an important year for the Marvel Universe. After the post-Endgame slump and a transition period focused on introducing new superheroes, the MCU enters Phase 5 and begins the Multiverse saga. In the coming months, we will see the departure of big names (such as Ant-Man or Guardians of the Galaxy, etc.) and the arrival of many others (Captain America, Fantastic 4, etc.). All in anticipation of the climax that will bring two new Avengers movies in 2025 and 2026.
