About this deal

On the surface, the TINI 2 is easy enough to operate. There are only two buttons to work with (power and mode), and the OLED display shows all the relevant information you need, such as the modes, battery level, remaining runtime, brightness level, and user mode. NITECORE TINI 2 | The OLED display may be tiny, but it’s full of useful information.

REVIEW: Nitecore TINI2 - Display OLED, 500 Lm. USB-C REVIEW: Nitecore TINI2 - Display OLED, 500 Lm. USB-C

The TINI 2 SS features five brightness levels ranging from 1 to 500 lumens, accessible via two user modes. The Demo mode automatically turns off if there has been no operation in 30 seconds, where as the Daily mode will stay on until it is either turned off or the battery voltage drops down. With the flashlight On, the screen will show the various information in sequence: brightness level, lumens and user mode (Demo or Daily) and then the time remaining before the battery runs out. To reactivate the display just press the “MODE” button. The light is capable of operating on all modes even when charging (at the expense of a slower charging rate). However, it is recommended to limit the usage to “ULTRA-LOW” or “LOW” mode only, to ensure that the battery does get charged. If that’s not enough, the TINI 2 just looks straight-up industrial. The way the OLED display, the two buttons, and the charging port are square give it that industrial aesthetic. Topped off with those metal screws we mentioned earlier, the TINI 2 definitely looks more tool than toy.

This is what I love about the TINI2

As for the TINI 2’s components, it contains a typical lithium-ion battery rated at 280 mAh. Meanwhile, the dual LEDs installed are P8 LEDs from OSRAM, one of the most reputable brands when it comes to anything that lights up. We’re always happy to see when brands source quality components from reputable manufacturers, whether it’s zippers, fabrics—or in this case—LEDs because of the peace of mind it gives. There are tint shifts throughout the beam profile. The hotspot is cool white whilst the corona possess a slight yellowish-green tint; and most of the spill having a slight yellowish-green tint. display is cute but I hate how they waste my time on showing a brand rather than something useful. That’s very disrespectful and I think I will be looking at the displayed information much less than I could because of this. Switching ON the flashlight within 3 seconds after the 30 seconds, will put the flashlight into temporary DAILY mode until switch OFF.

Today I’m taking a look at the Nitecore TINI2, one of the newest keychain lights in Nitecore’s stable. For this light, the spill, corona and hotspot is somewhat predictable due to the TIR optics. Surprisingly, the LED is not covered under the TIR (Total Internal Reflection) optics. With the LEDs used, the beam is suited for recognizing items in the up-close and near distance only. The TINI2 has a small LED display that displays the mode and remaining runtime, as well as other settings. It's small, so it may be challenging to read for those who don't have the best vision. This small Nitecore keychain flashlight is about 2.5x the price of the AAA Lumintop EDC01, but as noted, this flashlight is crazy bright and small. The beam of the Nitecore TINI2 has a white (CW) tint that is not too cold and no particular artifact or dominant. I didn't notice PWM in the various brightness levels. The distance from the start of the spill to the feet is about 20 cm. The Nitecore TINI 2 is a clear upgrade from the TINI SS in both looks and performance. For something that is so tiny and light, there isn't a reason why you can't bring it everywhere along with you. Additional Images

The OLED display provides information about the current status of the TINI 2 when the light is turned on. It successively shows the brightness level & lumen output, the user mode and the run-time remaining. After the screen goes out it can be reactivated by pressing the mode button. There is also a display demonstration function, but it is for demonstration purposes only and not a reflection of the light status. The Nitecore TINI 2 SS is a stainless steel version of the popular TINI 2 keyring light. It offers an impressive maximum output of 500 lumens from the 2 x OSRAM P8 LEDs and is powered by a built-in, li-ion battery. All of the beamshots taken below are done so with the following camera settings (ULTRA-LOW: 2.5 sec, F3.5, ISO100, 5000K WB, LOW: 0.8 sec, F3.5, ISO100, 5000K WB, MID: 1/3 sec, F3.5, ISO100, 5000K WB, HIGH: 1/5 sec, F3.5, ISO100, 5000K WB, and TURBO: 1/8 sec, F3.5, ISO100, 5000K WB). Some pictures have been adjusted slightly to depict as close as to what is seen in real life. The distance of the light from the door is 4.6m. The vendor documentation says its impact resistant up to 1m (3ft) drops. We have not tested that intentionally, but have dropped and it still works. Nitecore TINI2 vs Original TINIA note about candela readings in general – being 10cm out at 5m can make such a difference; had I measured 72 lux at 5.1m (10cm difference), then I’d be getting 1872cd, almost the same as my 10m reading. At these lux levels and distances, being out even a small amount can change the numbers quite a bit. However, there are still markings on one side, probably unavoidable due to regulations. There is the logo and next to it is CE compliance mark and a crossed-out “wheelie-bin” symbol. I did notice that the RoHS compliance mark is not printed on the TINI 2.
