Puppets/soft toys to represent the passengers in Mr Gumpy’s Motor Car’ by John Burningham and copies of book Afterwards, I added a Venn Diagram in their lapbooks and they worked on them independently. They used our flip chart for reference too! Farm Animal Spelling: Read and understand simple sentences. Use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately. Also read some common irregular words. Demonstrate understanding when talking with others about what they have read. I hid the farm animal cards all around the room and let the boys go on a “get the blood pumping – brain break” animal hunt!
