About this deal

Thank you Penguin Random House Canada, Tundra Books and Netgalley for blessing me with this eARC in exchange for a honest review. This is a cute story about building friendship - it tells about little Echo who is too shy to use her own voice, so she just echoes other animals and visitors to herh home (a cave). One day, to save a little boy named Max, she has to use a word of her own! The illustrations are in a unique and interesting to look at. I love the underground cross section that shows you the caves and tunnels, you see bats hanging upside down reading, bees enjoying a glass of something, and in my favourite cave, some fox-like creatures are sprawled on the floor doing some drawing! Puffin has acquired the debut picture book from author-illustrator Al Rodin after a hotly-contested seven-way auction.

A genuinely charming story of a little boy playing in a cave, and the small echo who wanted to play too--instead of just echoing.Little Echo is a beautifully illustrated picture book. I read it to my 6 year old daughter and she loved it! This is a story about a little echo who is shy and hides away. But then she meets a boy and as she helps him, she finds a friend and discovers her voice. I thought this book had a very positive message and I’m glad I shared it with my daughter.

A stunning picture book celebrating friendship, courage and finding your own voice. Read more Details Emily Ann Davison is a mother by day and a children’s writer by night. Having spent many years working with children, she discovered a love of picture books and began writing her own. It has richly textured pictures, with layered brushstrokes of meadow and thunderstorm, and animals conjured in a few fine lines. The Times Best Books for Children 2023Little Echo lives in a cave. Together, they go a journey of bravery and friendship. Little Echo lives alone in a cave. Shy, she hides away, echoing the noises around her. But Little Echo isn't just shy - she's lonely. And when Max comes to the cave one day, in search of treasure, Little Echo starts to discover that maybe she has a voice of her own... This is a nice story about coming into yourself and being resilient. The friendship that develops between Little Echo and Max is very sweet and a great example for kids. This is also full of wonderfully expressive language to help build vocabularies and storytelling skills. The art is lively and detailed and complements the story nicely. This would be a good circle time read for pre-K and early elementary. Andrea MacDonald, Editorial Director at Puffin Picture Books, bought world rights for Little Echo, the story of a lonelyecho who lives in a cave, from Cecilia de la Campa, head of global licensing at Writer's House, on behalf of Lindsay Auld, Rodin's agent. Part of a two-book deal, Little Echo will publish in April 2021. Let's talk about how vivid and wonderful the illustrations are. They are so cute and colorful that they will catch one's eye. It also introduces children to what an echo is and how it works. in a wonderfully imaginative way.

Little Echo lives her life hidden away in the shadows of a cave. The bright yellow creature longs to join the cave’s other inhabitants as they frolic and play, but her terrible timidity keeps her silent and watchful. When someone loud, bold and adventurous stumbles into her cave on a quest for treasure, Little Echo has a chance to find more than just her voice—she might also find a friend. They decided to join up and search together for the treasure, when Max surely found one - Little Echo - treasure of treasures and Echo without searching found her treasure in Max. This beautifully written and illustrated book serves the dual purpose of explaining echos and dealing with being shy. It will make a great bedtime story. Highly recommended! Now that I have my very own copy, I’m so excited to be able to share my thoughts about it with the world. Because it is just delightful! I truly think this is such a special book. Al’s illustrations are so bold and expressive. They have such a timeless feel to them. We can all identify with Little Echo tiring of her assigned role, and looking for someone to help her develop her "fun" muscles. I recommend this picture book as a bedtime story, and as a gift for anyone young or old who reminds the reader of either or both characters! Magical!

As they explore the cave together (looking for treasure of course) Echo learns to listen and speak to build a friendship for the first time! Thank you so much, to the publisher and NetGalley for the free preview copy of this ebook; the review is voluntary--and enthusiastic! Interesting way to show little kids how echoes work. And a good way to talk about gaining confidence and making friends. The illustrations were interesting (the cross section of the caves was my favourite!) I rarely read children's novels but the illustration and the title caught my eye that I just had to request for it! So glad I got a chance to read it.
