About this deal

I believe that this is a debut novel- wow- keep me posted for the next one please- a stunning piece of writing that makes reading this so easy and a pleasure-not something everyone can do. Guilt, heartbreak and second chances are all featured here as people’s stories are discovered and give encouragement and closure to others. But, once she started sending out her work to potential publishers, reality kicked in as she faced rejection after rejection. Mrs B is my favourite character; she is a grumpy, old and wise ex-spy who doesn’t initially want a cleaner but soon becomes firm friends with Janice. in their struggles and develops an appreciation of the understanding between them – oh, and relishes the subtle victory at the end, which is sweet!

The Keeper Of Stories By Sally Page Her Inner Lioness: The Keeper Of Stories By Sally Page

It's a crockpot of all sorts, held together by a strong central character and a couple of plot lines which merge neatly. Furthermore, I started to get a little bored by Mrs B’s story about Becky, failing to appreciate the significance of this narrative. Life-affirming, hopeful fiction that can definitely fit into the 'Uplit' genre, this wonderful novel will definitely be on my list of 'Best Books of 2022'. In a Nutshell: The book tries hard to match up to the outstanding cover but after a point, it just bored me. They have a grown-up son, Simon, who avoids visiting his parents for reasons Janice can only guess, although she thinks she must have somehow let him down. With everything from laugh out loud moments to a few held breath ones, this book was the tonic for that reading slump I just could not get out of. There are some really beautiful lines in the book, the most memorable being the ones related to stories. This is a book I shall not soon forget for its sublime writing and storytelling from start to finish.

The Keeper of Stories | Bookclubs Discussion questions for The Keeper of Stories | Bookclubs

I enjoyed how things came together; enough was left to the imagination while most things were cleared up. At times it made me laugh and other times it was sad especially how some people treated her especially her husband. This book is an immersive experience that left me feeling uplifted by its message of hope and resilience. Mrs YeahYeahYeah, Mr NoNoNotNow, Geordie, the opera singer, Fiona and Adam coming to terms with loss, Carrie-Louise and Mavis whose point scoring is a joy to the eavesdropping reader, the Geography teacher who has never been in a classroom, Mycroft, who you don’t see coming and, possibly most delightful of all, Decius (named after a Roman Emperor), a talking (and swearing) pedigree fox terrier (well, it only takes one look at his face and a little imagination). That this is a debut novel is quite remarkable; clearly the talent for writing runs in the family and there’ll be some healthy competition going on from here on in!It is important that we continue to promote these adverts as our local businesses need as much support as possible during these challenging times. Her beloved husband John commit suicide and both Fiona and her twelve year old son are decimated by their grief. Modest Janice has few friends and does not recognise her own worth, or how highly she is thought of by many who know her.
