About this deal

Beefeater 24 gets its name from the twenty-four hour maceration time that its twelve botanicals undergo. While many of the botanicals are familiar to Beefeater drinkers, the two tea botanicals set it apart. The citrus is a bit more bright and at the fore. Seville Orange zest lends Beefeater 24 a note that reminds me of Chase’s Seville Orange Gin. I enjoyed a selection of Petit Fours, underlining the creaminess, sweetness, in particular, the white chocolate and marzipan note coming through.

Put the ‘Gin’ in ‘Ginger’ with this spirit and mixer combo. Ginger is naturally warming and with a hint of spice- a blend that sits perfectly with the subtle juniper notes in Beefeater Gin. Towards the finish, an ever so gentle floral touch creeps in. I’m reminded of violet, chamomile, as well as rose petals. All in all, it’s a mellow, sweet, and well-rounded sensation, maybe even too well-balanced for real gin geeks. The 24 is not overly complex, not overly intense, but encompassed in an all-around smooth and very creamy scenery. For those of us with a sweet tooth, mixing gin with lemonade is one alternative to using the classic tonic water. Especially bright with Beefeater Pink Strawberry. Drinking gin neat might not be as common as with spirits like whisky, but for a true aficionado’s sip, try a small measure, chilled over ice, for a real exploration of all the botanical details in Beefeater Gin. Always enjoy Beefeater Gin responsibly- go for a slow savour. It’s hard to pinpoint which variety of tea is there, even though with time Earl Grey tea seems to stand out. Needless to say, the scent beautifully fits this gin’s London theme, transcending reminiscences of afternoon tea and British flair. The first smell is surprisingly sweet, I have to confess. Despite being called a London dry, the mellowness and tranquility of the initial olfactory sensation is rather puzzling. However, it comes in a lovely orange marmalade envelope, accompanied by some fresh citrus peel and juice lemon filets. The grapefruit, one of the key botanicals for the 24, is very present as well.

Get a lighter scotch and soda vibe- we like to add in an extra squeeze of citrus to really bring out the fruit notes in Beefeater Gin. Try soda water with a little squeeze of orange. The overall gustatory sensation is medium complex, rather mellow and mild in character, whilst not overly intense or pungent whatsoever. Given that this is 45% alcohol by volume, the gin goes down smoothly creamy. Beefeater’s premium offering is still an exceptionally well-made gin with wide appeal. Fans of Japanese gins looking for something a bit more widely available will find Beefeater 24 an apt substitute.
