About this deal

Utterly wonderful . . . Cecelia Ahern is a master storyteller at the absolute peak of her powers. Her heroine, Alice Kelly, is completely unique – beguiling, complicated, extraordinary – and she’ll change the way you see the world’ Clare Pooley Despite the book being set at Christmas, this really has no impact on the story at all. It is used to hammer home the moral message; Christmas is a time for forgiveness and to be with your family. So the yuletide theme should not put any readers off reading it at any time during the year, as the moral tone stands alone. The fear was there; it was there all the time, but it was merely disguised as something else for others to see.”

I have had a life-long relationship with colours. Enduring them, accepting them, surrendering to them.'

This sounds like a good book Anne. Audible is on my list of things to try this year. I know quite a few who use it and they all say how good it is. This book was so much better than I had anticipated. I have read one other book by Cecelia Ahern just a couple of months ago and I was pretty disappointed. So when starting this book I was expecting the same kind of outcome. But I was pleasantly surprised.

The Gift | Cecelia Ahern

I found all of the characters well rounded. We get to know them well through their impact on Alice. Her meeting with Naomi is a turning point, where she learns that her life can be different. Her relationship with Andy, after an idyllic start, becomes troubled at times, but they learn to deal with each other's idiosyncrasies. Her love of being out in nature and her growing understanding of plants through seeing their moods and colours was fascinating and and, for her, life-changing. Cecelia shares with us the inspiration behind her character and the lessons she learned while writing The Gift. But soon Lou begins to regret helping Gabe. His very presence unsettles Lou and how does Gabe appear to be in two places at the same time? Ahern is a wonderfully gifted writer with a writing style that is easy and enjoyable to follow through her magical tales. I found myself submerged in her story telling straight from the opening chapter. During the beginning of the book, she describes the warmth and calmness of Christmas with beautiful imagery, and manages to get you to feel that warmth inside as you read along. Although this book is set at Christmas time, it’s not exactly Christmas themed, though that didn’t stop me feeling the Christmas spirit as I read the first three paragraphs. In a Thousand Different Ways" is the story of Alice Kelly and her dysfunctional family. Alice's mother struggles to raise her 3 children on her own but, as they grow up, they all leave home for different reasons. Alice suffers with what she thinks of as a curse but some others see as a blessing, not that she tells many people about seeing colours around everything and everyone.Interestingly, while at the Bull and Bear bar, the live show ran late and there wasn’t enough time for my interview. We had to record it at the end, to add it into another live show on a different day. I’m not sure if that ever happened. So we ran out of time in the exact moment I came up with a novel about time. Timely, wasn’t it? There was a kind of panic in the air that month, I felt it from a lot of people. Her descriptive prose takes us to the near distant past where a little girl is the middle child of a bi-polar single mother. Her older brother is a light and her younger brother becomes her nemesis. This is a book about love, trust, mysticism, family, acceptance, humanity, compassion and so much more I haven't read anything by Cecila Ahern for quite some time, but when I saw this on Netgalley, I had to request a copy. Thank you to them and Harper Collins for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. I don’t want to give too much of the story away, which I think is so easy when giving a review – I highly recommend this book. Such a beautiful story of family and love.
