About this deal

Many of the rarest Pokémon cards date from the trading card game’s early days, with first edition cards released in the 1990s ranking as among the most valuable Pokémon cards today. Only 36 copies of the holographic card are estimated to exist - equal to the number of finalists in all age divisions of the world championships, split between both the trading card game’s finals and their video game counterparts held during the same event. For the TCG, eight cards were awarded to Junior players, six to Senior trainers and six to Masters. This was a change from the 2009 World Championships, where only players who made it to the TCG finals were given a prize card. Holographics– ordinarily, Pokémon cards have holographic foils only on certain sections of the card art (often only the main card image) – but this can vary depending on the type of card. Since ‘holos’ are rarer than other cards, if this is what you’re dealing with, it’s best to look up online which areas of the card should be holographic, and which shouldn’t; the Pokémon TCG database is a good place to start for this, but you might also find help from a friendly collector, dealer or via a collectors’ group on social media. Held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village from 1999 to 2001, the Pokemon Tropical Mega Battle gave the best players from the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Europe the chance to test their skills against each other.

Right. Got all that? That covers all the main methods of identifying those pesky fake Pokémon cards among your collection – but there’s another side to this story… Lana ( Nereida) is voiced by Ana de Castro who also voiced Aria since Kalos Quest. Kiawe is voiced by Javier Lorca who previously voiced Kendall, Brycen and Sanpei. Lillie ( Lylia) was voiced by Ainhoa Martín in the first 2 episodes of Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon, who also voiced Malin and Roxie in Rival Destinies; later is replaced by Laura Pastor who also voiced Korrina. Sophocles ( Chris) was voiced by Chelo Molina until SM059 who previously voiced Forrest ( HS01) and Angie and replaced since SM060 by Chelo Vivares who also voiced Mikey, Ritchie, Sam, Piplup ( Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time & Darkness), Kenny, Cameron and Confined Hoopa. Mallow ( Lulú) is voiced by Carmen López Pascual. The Neo Genesis 1st Edition Holo Lugia #9 Pokémon card is described by auction house PWCC as one of the most difficult Pokémon cards to grade, as the result of a number of errors and misprints that were included in the early runs of the Neo Genesis set for the Pokémon TCG. Later print runs were corrected, but many of the cards from the expansion remain more common in their earlier uncorrected forms. Gary Oak is voiced by Jesús Pinillos. His grandfather, Professor Oak, is voiced by Roberto Encinas. Another one of Ash's rivals, Paul, is voiced by Pablo Sevilla. Pilar Martín, Sara Heras, Desirée Álvarez and Sara Polo as Nurse Joy. Valle Acebrón and Silvia Sarmentera as Officer Jenny. Iris is voiced by Belén Rodriguez who also provides the voice for Solana (except in the 2 part Deoxys episodes) and Salvia. Cilan ( Millo) is voiced by Fernando Cabrera who also voices Harley in Pokémon Battle Frontier and Khoury. This Charizard comes from the final expansion of the Japanese e-Card Series and is one of the more unique Colourless Crystal Pokémon (that means it doesn’t have a specific energy type). e-Cards are unusual in that to make the most of them you needed an e-Reader peripheral for the Game Boy Advance which let you access information about the card and sometimes access to a couple of minigames. Goh is voiced by Jon Samaniego who previously voiced Corey in M22 and Tim Goodman in Detective Pikachu

On an authentic card, that diagonal sweep is dappled with the dark blue colour underneath – as in the photo above. If a player were fortunate enough to make it far enough through the competition to finish in second place overall, he or she would receive this number two trainer card. Gold Star Pokémon cards are among the most valuable sets of Pokémon cards in existence and command an incredibly high value as a result. The cards are named after the gold star that appears next to the Pokémon’s name at the top of the card, which signifies that the card features alternative-colour artwork different from the common version. Only 27 Gold Star cards were released from 2004 to 2007, making them some of the rarest Pokémon cards available.

The Japanese text on the card reads: “We certify that your illustration is an excellent entry in the Pokémon Card Game Illust Contest. Therefore, we state that you are an Officially Authorized Pokémon Card Illustrator and admire your skill."Not only did contest winners receive multiple copies of a card that featured their very own winning design, which was exciting in its own right, each of them also received a copy of the Pikachu Illustrator card as an additional prize. The Iberian Spanish dub is based on the English dubs by 4Kids Entertainment and Pokémon USA, Inc., retaining their character names (Some exceptions are Gym Leaders, Frontier Brains, and game characters like in the games in this language). The anime has aired on both nationally-owned channels such as Telecinco, Clan TVE, all regional channels and on the Spanish branch of Jetix (now Disney XD).

Considering the massive boost in notoriety that Charizard and Blastoise received for being the box art characters for the Red and Blue games, respectively, the same is true for Lugia. The Pikachu Illustrator card is extremely rare, with just 23 copies certified by the Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) and only 39 thought to be in existence. So more of these cards could still be hiding out there waiting to be sold for staggering sums. Afterwards, Panini sold the TCG cards starting with the Diamond & Pearl expansion set, again with several expansions missing. The Majestic Dawn, Rising Rivals and Supreme Victors expansions were never released in Spain. The cards feature artwork from prolific Pokémon illustrator Mitsuhiro Arita, who also illustrated Squirtle, Venusaur and Gyarados for the Pokémon TCG’s original Base Set, among others.Only 12 Tropical Wind cards were produced as promo cards for the 1999 Tropical Mega Battle, a precursor to the Pokémon World Championships, making it one of the most valuable Pokémon sets around. The Iberian Spanish dub of the Pokémon anime is recorded and produced in Madrid, Spain and was previously licensed by entertainment company BRB Internacional. The series has been dubbed in five different dubbing studios. Originally, the series was dubbed in Telson, which dubbed the series from the first season until the eighth season and movies 4 and 5. After this, Telson went out of business, so the series was moved to Arait Multimedia, which recorded the ninth season and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Team Go-Getters Out of the Gate!. Starting from the tenth season, the series moved to 103 Todd-AO, which dubbed the series until the sixteenth season, when the series was moved to Tecnison, S.A. until season seventeen. The dub of these seasons was produced by SDI Media Poland. In season 18, the series moved to SDI Media Spain.
