Mark's mum Rita said the family had been left "devastated" by his tragic death. "He was the kindest lad you could ever wish to meet," she said in an emotional tribute. "We loved him. Mark, who worked for Hull City Council since 1996, was awarded an MBE in 2016, in recognition of his dedication and commitment to economic regeneration and inward investment in Hull. He was the perfect dad and did everything he could for his daughters. He was so funny and had so many friends. I miss him terribly. From a personal perspective, I worked closely with Mark for over 20 years, most notably on the ‘Green Port Hull’ scheme, which led to the development of Hull’s wind turbine blade factory. Without Mark, this would not have happened. I could list many, many projects, investments and jobs created in Hull that only happened because of his hard work, and they all stand as testament to his ingenuity, expertise and commitment to Hull. Many people refer to him as “Mr Hull”, and I think that is what he was. Carli’s compassionate nature helps her relate to and help adolescents navigate life and teenage years. She also works with adolescents who may be transitioning from an inpatient to outpatient setting.Dr. Cook completed her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) where she serves as an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Counseling Department. Speaking to the M.E.N. last month, he said he hoped to explore treatment options so he could live long enough to spend Christmas with his family. However, after taking a turn for the worse recently, he was admitted to Salford Royal Hospital where he passed away last Tuesday.Tributes have been paid to a "perfect" dad-of-two and huge Manchester United fan who has died following a battle with cancer. He subsequently directed the National Museums of Scotland (1992-2001), overseeing the opening of the Museum of Scotland, the creation of the National War Museum of Scotland, and the Museum of Scottish Country Life. Follow his diagnosis, Mark tied the knot with his partner Sarah in a short ceremony at their family home. They were joined by loved ones, while the couple's daughters acted as ring bearers for the big occasion.
