About this deal

The Fool Jobs - 574 (autumn) : Curnden Craw has been sent with his dozen to recover a thing from beyond the Crinna. One small problem. No one seems to know what the thing is. At the end it is shown that the real master-planner of the failed rebellion is Savine's father, Glokta. He wanted to rid the Union of Bayaz's influence. And in the words of his daughter, he put half of the world at fire so he could rule the other half. Bayaz banks are no more, and with them goes his control of the Union. Small Kindnesses is the first short story in the collection depicting the encounter between Javre, the Lioness of Hoskopp, and Shevedieh, the thief who tries to find redemption. This is the beginning of the duo I mentioned earlier, and it's very well written and fun to read.

Ferro Maljinn, an escaped slave from the south who puts her thirst for revenge over all else. She is part devil. A film adaptation of Best Served Cold from Skydance Media is currently in pre-production, with Tim Miller attached to direct. Abercrombie wrote the screenplay and Rebecca Ferguson is set to star as Monza Murcatto. For someone who hated fights, Shev surely ended up in a lot of the bastards, and if she’d learned one thing it was that you’ve got to commit. Try your damndest to negotiate, to compromise, to put it off, but when the time comes to fight, you’ve got to commit. So she flung her knife. Bethod's tale depicted Bethod and his thought process. I think this was the first point of view from Bethod and he's clearly an intriguing man. It was interesting to witness his absolute fear of Logen Ninefingers and truth be told it makes perfect sense. A man with a murderous split personality that takes over from time to time is a difficult man to deal with. Grimwood, Jon Courney (10 June 2006). "Murderous Impulses". The Guardian . tip: …Noun tip (pl. tips) The extreme end of something, especially when pointed; e.g. the sharp end of a pencil. (From 15th c.) 1848, Anne Bronte, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall: When he woke…King Guslav the Fifth, the obese, senile king of Adua, his health is rapidly failing and his mind is slipping. La suerte es una zorra traidora que no siempre sigue el juego, así que entonces hay que ponerse en manos de la audacia”.

The Fool Jobs- 2/5- This was very much standard fair. A few warriors engage in some banter then they go kill some people. That’s pretty much it. Javre shrugged, sinews in her shoulders twitching. ‘I have never been hard to catch. It is once you catch me that your problems begin.’ She nodded towards the scarred one, who was slowly, smoothly, silently easing her way around the top of the canyon to their right. ‘She is Ahum, Eleventh of the Fifteen. Is the scar still sore?’

The Union army may be full of bastards, but there's only one who thinks he can save the day single-handed when the Gurkish come calling: the incomparable Colonel Sand dan Glokta. Still, I have to stress that the majority of the stories in here were decent to good. Among my other favorites were “Yesterday, Near a Village Called Barden” and the unsettling closer “Made a Monster”. Like I said, I’m not an experienced anthology reader so my mixed feelings on this book ultimately came down to personal taste and my too-high expectations because it was Joe A. In fact, reading this book only managed to further sharpen my desire to read another full-length Abercrombie novel (perhaps, even one about the dynamic duo of Shev and Javre? One can dream, I guess…) Say one thing for Logen, say he is the ultimate character that goes into berserker mode... Because you gotta be realistic about these things. Leo is saved from the hanging by Savine's confession to Orso that they found out they were siblings, and even through Leo rebellion failed, a new one is ready to succeed, armed with Angland's weapons. All short fiction is collected in Sharp Ends: Stories from the World of the First Law (April 2016). There are a total of 13 stories, of which five were original to the collection and eight previously published. [8] Story

So Shev ended up with horse andrider on her conscience. But the sad fact was, only the winners got to regret what they did in a fight, and right now Shev had other worries. Namely, a man with the shittiest teeth she ever saw and a hell of an intimidating mace. Why was he grinning? God, if she had those teeth, you’d have needed a crowbar to get her lips apart. Chronologically, this is the farthest story in the Tales from The First Law world. This is the fifth and also the last story featuring the main duo of Sharp Ends. The story takes place two years after the end of Red Country in Sipani. It contained a beautiful flow to the narrative imbued with Abercrombie's trademark consecutive shifting point of view, but I felt it's also a bit anticlimactic end to Javre and Shev's story. Got yer,’ he growled in her face, his breath alone almost enough to make her lose consciousness. He lifted his mace. The original trilogy is published by Gollancz in the UK and Pyr in the United States. The stand-alone novels remain with Gollancz in the UK but were published by Orbit Books in the United States, [2] with Orbit also releasing later editions of the original trilogy. Gollancz and Orbit also released The Age of Madness trilogy in the UK and the US, respectively.Sharp Ends is by turns brutal, witty, chilling, charming but always brilliant. ( Geek Planet Online) The Fool Jobs (East of the Crinna, Autumn 574, one year before the events in The Blade Itself): 3/5 stars With a sigh of infinite weariness, Shev sank down beside the puddle, took up the bloody rag she had used earlier and wrung it out. I do not care to step aside. Especially on a bridge as narrow as this one.’ Whirrun’s eyes narrowed slightly. ‘And your tone somewhat offends me.’ This was a great collection of twisted short stories. It’s Abercrombie at his best. I’ve reviewed each one individually:
