About this deal

In the afternoon, consider hopping on a ferry to the nearby Port-Cros National Park and the "Golden Islands" offshore from Hyères (including the Porquerolles Islands). Clear waters, pristine sandy beaches, lush greenery, and abundant species of birds and fish await in the national park. Hiking, snorkeling, deep-sea diving, and swimming off of intimate, protected beaches are all possibilities, but make sure you come equipped for whichever activities you choose. The novel’s characters contains the elegant and the rich. No no, it is not that superficial. They are smart as well just remember. A well-written fairytale romance set amongst the rich-and-famous lifestyle of the French Riviera. The ‘secrets’ are not earth-shattering, but a fun, light summer holiday read nonetheless! Mopsy, VIC, 4 Stars The novel has a prominent theme running throughout of secrets and there is also a lot of glitz and stardom. The characterisation is really strong although at first, I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy the main characters. However, they grew on me and I enjoyed their dynamism. The tale also contains some terrific scene setting from the author and I really felt as though I was present in the locale. Well worth a look, I have been inspired to read Under a Greek Moon if time allows. This book transports you to the glamour and beauty of the Côte d’Azur, where we meet new and old characters who are all at turning points in their lives.

Start your day in St-Tropez with a walk around the Vieux Port (Old Port), dotted with impressive yachts and restaurants ideal for people-watching. Stroll along the coastal path and head over to admire the remnants of the old fisherman's district, La Ponche, whose warm facades, tiny beach, and cobblestone-paved streets offer a glimpse at what the town was like before it became a tourist hotspot. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, full bathroom with complementary toiletry items, telephone, piped music, cable and satellite television, and safe deposit box (charge) wifi (charge). Include tea/coffee making facilities in all rooms. Food & Drink The theme of secrets runs throughout this novel and I liked how so many characters have hidden truths and their reasons for not being completely honest. The most secretive of all is Gabriel’s mother and I thought it quite spooky that she shuts herself off from the world, living alone at the top of the hotel. Reminiscent of Miss Haversham, Kirkwood keeps readers guessing for most of the novel about the reasons behind Madame du Lac’s isolation and I think this made me just read the book even faster – I was desperate to know the truth about her seclusion and the history of the hotel. Due North of here are Bicton Gardens, which were designed by Andre le Notre, who planned the gardens of Versailles, and are of outstanding horticultural interest. One of South Devon’s most popular attractions, Babbacombe Model Villageis transformed during the month of December into a stunning ‘Winter Wonderland’. Using highly realistic snow effects to cover the thousands of model buildings and miniature people, a white Christmas in Babbacombeis virtually guaranteed, if only for a very small part of it. Christmas shopping in DevonOn foot, there are breathtaking walks along the Heritage Coast Trail as far as your legs will carry you. By car, the possibilities are too numerous, but here are just a few: I loved this book. It sweeps you away to the glamorous French riviera and is the perfect holiday read. There is an element of mystery, as Arianna tries to uncover the how the hotel ended up in her possession and the characters are brilliantly weaved in, so that you feel like you know them. I read this in one day as I did not want to put it down.

In the afternoon, as temperatures warm up, head to the beaches for swimming, sunbathing, or a longer coastal walk. Be aware that most of the best ones are a few minutes' away by car or bus from the center of town, along the Pampelonne Bay (in the adjoining municipality of Ramatuelle). Head up to the Place des Lices for lunch, the traditional central square where Provencal-style buildings glow in the sun, and pétanque players throw metallic balls down sandy pitches while sipping pastis liqueur . On market days, this is one of the best spots for observing local life. If time allows, visit the St-Tropez Citadel, a 16th-century fortress that attests to the town's historical role as a defensive spot along the coast. The Maritime museum in the former dungeon is also worth visiting. From Sunday Times bestselling author and the nation’s best loved TV presenter Carol Kirkwood comes a glittering escape to the French Riviera. ‘Deliciously escapist’ Cathy Kelly ‘A stunning holiday read with passion and heart, perfect…!’ Anton Du BekeThe long standing success of the Hotel Riviera is due to our striving for impeccable standards in both accommodation and service. Our policy of continual improvement has resulted not only in rooms and facilities of the highest quality but also in a genuine sense of welcome from a loyal and long-serving staff who have a well deserved reputation for friendliness and excellent service. We also meet Elizabeth and Robert, glamorous Hollywood A-Listers whose marriage is disintegrating, and Elissa, whose dreams of making it as a dancer and providing a better life for her and her daughter are fading as she finds herself working in a club in Cannes that is definitely the wrong side of seedy. Set in the South of France, Carol Kirkwood's second story follows her début, Under a Greek Moon, and it is a compelling read full of glamour. Ariana Theodosis inherits the Hotel du Soleil on the French Riviera after the death of her beloved grandmother, but she is not alone in believing she is the owner. Gabriel du Lac, the current hotelier is still in residence there. I know, it sounds a bit like a classic 1970’s Mills and Boon story but there is so much more to the book than that. Carol is a very evocative and descriptive writer and manages to bring to life the sights and sounds of the iconic French Riviera. It almost feels like you are seated in the hotel lobby sipping an Aperol Spritz and watching the events as they happen. It is not just a romance, there is a bit of intrigue, detective work. murder and organised crime just to keep things busy! The Hotel on the Riviera is a fun read and the perfect accompaniment to your summer beach bag.

Your week in the French Riviera begins in Nice and Monaco, then moves westward to famous resort towns and beaches including Cannes, Antibes, and St-Tropez. Along the way, you'll also visit a couple of the region's most stunning "perched villages." We finish off the week at the west end of the Riviera, with a visit to the postcard-pretty town of Cassis and the natural wonders of Calanques National Park. I'll admit that there is one reason and one reason only that I bought this book, because this is not really my genre: I had a huge crush on Carol Kirkwood as a teenager. When I was getting ready for school in the mornings, my mum would have the news on the television so she'd be presenting the weather, obviously. It was always particularly great if Carol was out and about somewhere and found a cute animal or something. She's so sweet and so pretty <3 It's day six, and time to venture over to the far western side of the Riviera, an area that tends to be overlooked by international tourists (and prized by French travelers for its relative quiet). From Saint-Tropez, head to Hyères, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful and varied areas on the Côte d'Azur. With its medieval town nestled in the hills above the sea, wide, sandy beaches, protected islands rich with wildlife, and diverse cultural treasures, Hyères should not be missed. Nestled between Cap Canaille and the Calanques National Park, Cassis is simply one of the most beautiful villages along the western stretch of the "Côte d'Azur." Arriving from Hyères (around 60 minutes), start your visit of Cassis by heading directly down to the historic harbor area. Its picturesque boats, clear-blue water, and waterside restaurants are all familiar postcard images. Your adventure begins with a walk along the famous Promenade des Anglais, a 2.5-mile waterside boardwalk that offers stunning views over the Mediterranean, beaches, and the ornate facades of iconic buildings such as the Hotel Negresco. Weather permitting, take a dip in the water, or to relax and people-watch on the sand.By the sapphire blue waters of the French Riviera, a decades-long secret is about to be revealed... Naturally, your bedroom will be everything you would expect from one of the leading hotels in Sidmouth. Really enjoyed this book. Did not want to put it down. Felt like I was in the French Riviera. Michelle, VIC, 4 Stars Step into the town's many shops, galleries, and churches, before visiting the ruins of the former castle. From the exotic gardens there, you'll enjoy sweeping perspectives of the countryside and sea below. Papaya Beach, located just below the perched village in Èze Mer, is a charming spot for a dip or dinner on the water. Hotelier Gabriel du Lac’s family have owned the hotel for decades – and he has no intention of giving it up for a beautiful stranger.
