About this deal

A TRV is a self-regulating valve, which is attached to a radiator. It “senses” the temperature in the room and adjusts the radiator accordingly. If the room feels cool, the TRV has a special valve which contracts because of the temperature, enabling more hot water to enter and then to heat. Meanwhile, if the external temperature in the room is warm, the valve will expand and enable a smaller flow of hot water. It will gradually cool the radiator down. And those are only part of the benefits of a thermostatic radiator valve. What Tools and Items You May Need

Most radiators have manual radiator valves. They have a range of numbers – normally from 1 to 6 – with 6 being the hottest. By simply turning the valve, you're setting how much hot water can flow into the radiator. Thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) Jointing compound helps to create a strong seal and keep the valve firmly in place. Add the jointing compound to the two olives on your radiator. Step 5: Install The New Valve As the water is flowing, keep a close eye on the pressure gauge. The needle will move up as the water levels in the system rise and you don't want the pressure to be too high.Replacing a radiator valve without draining your central heating system can be done using a bung. By following the steps outlined in this post, you can successfully replace a radiator valve while avoiding the hassle of draining and refilling the system. Radiators typically work with hot water, so turn off your heating system as well as your water supply to avoid any injuries and damages to your home. Follow those 8 steps to change your radiator valve: Step 1. Turn Off Your Heating System and Your Water Supply Once they’re tight (but not overly done) remove the protective cap from the top of the valve body - this is usually screwed on so simply unscrew it. Now take the top of the valve and connect it to the valve body. Once it’s on you’ll want to just gently tighten up the nut a little, be careful not to over tighten it. If you're using tools to tighten up nuts then you could use a bit of cloth so that the finish of the valve isn't damaged in anyway. The last step is to bleed all of your radiators. This will ensure they're all properly filled and there's no air trapped in the system. When refilling and bleeding your system, we'd recommend adding inhibitor to keep your radiators working at their best. For anyone with a combi boiler, the method of draining the system is relatively easy. If your home has a conventional cylinder tank, it can be a lot more difficult to drain the system and this is where we recommend calling in a professional.

The control valve is normally either manual or thermostatic. And when replacing radiator valves, these are the ones we're talking about. In this case, the size of the radiator valve refers to the size of the valve connection and pipework instead of the design of the valve. There are a couple of things to do after you have changed your radiator valve to make sure that the heating system is working properly. Fitting thermostatic radiator valves to each radiator around your home will allow you to turn the heating off in rooms where it doesn't need to be on. So you won't be wasting money heating an empty room. Get a professional to change your radiator valves
