I love the Little Badman books, they are so fun to read and I have learnt a lot about Pakistani culture as a result. His homemade YouTube videos have been viewed more than 100 million times, which makes him one of the most popular online comedians in the UK. I've been reading this book with a group of 9 and 10 year olds and have seen first hand how it has helped to get reluctant readers excited about fiction.

The plot around the Agency and investigating Mr Malik may appear simple but is far from it as Humza and Umer discover and once it gets going their adventure doesn't stop until the final few pages. Humza Khan, our narrator, is one day going to be the most famous Rap artist in the world – well, he believes that to be true so he spends his time in class being the class clown and making up stories. I was always making people laugh when I was a kid, that's what I was good at, that's why I became a comedian.

As other teachers start to disappear, with more Aunties appearing in their place, Humza knows something isn't right. In his world people are from lots of places and they all live and play and learn together and they eat caramel apples and toffee and jilabies. I think my favorite character is Grandpa, who Humza has to learn to appreciate and not just see as an old almost dead guy and Humza’s dad who exaggerates everything and takes his cricket very seriously. Humza is Pakistani and his cultural baggage is hilarious and part of him, and no explanations are needed. Such is Little Badman’s gloriously entertaining voice, which drives this school-set mystery and goes up a few notches when he’s in rapping mode (there’s no question that his rhymes are sick).

Little Badman follows the story of 11 year old rapper Humza Khan who becomes suspicious when his school teachers begin to disappear and are replaced by evil aunties.

I know it's probably not the right thing to say honestly not seeing someone in a book that looked like me definitely meant that I didn't read many books growing up. Humza (aka Little Badman) great ambition is to be a super cool rapper and he devotes most of his time and energy on pursuing this goal.
