The Pure Elan radios are affordable, durable, and easy-to-listen to on the move. The Elan IR3, for instance, comes with access to thousands of stations from across the globe thanks to internet connectivity, and Spotify Connect. It's important for us to compare the performance of each product against the specs claimed by its manufacturers, which is why we take the time to ensure the battery life (in portable models), connectivity, feature set and sound quality is as good as the brands say it is. Elan One includes features such as alarms and sleep timer, making it perfect for a range of different locations around the home. Elan One can be powered by the supplied USB power cable or with 4xAA batteries. We also liked the fact that the buttons and dials on the Pure Elan E3 are tactile and easy to use. You don’t have to fiddle around with tiny buttons when you’re trying to find the right station.
At the same time, although you can’t stream your content to the device via Bluetooth, you can still connect and play your own music via aux cable. It comes with DAB, DAB+, and FM radio support, and sounds clear and expansive in spite of its small size. The Elan E3 is simple to use. It has a nice rotary volume control that is more satisfying to use than having to press separate ‘up’ and ‘down’ buttons. Storing preset stations is also straightforward using the dedicated preset buttons, so you don’t need to scroll through a menu like you do on many other small DAB radios.We make sure to test each model in a range of environments and against its chief competitors too, so you can be sure that the product will work just as well in your home, in whichever spot you've chosen to put it. We live with these radios in our homes to make sure that the performances are consistent, and we don't finalize our testing until we are certain of the sound quality. For instance, some people will want an entire audio system that plays everything from CDs to digital radio, like the Pure Chronos CD. Despite being slightly less expensive than the BT3, the Elan E3 actually comes with many of the same capabilities, including aux input for streaming your own music, and the option to switch between mains and battery power.
It’s primarily designed to look great in a kitchen or bedroom and have wide appeal; it sounds absolutely fine for both voice and music, but there are no EQ settings. We’re also slightly disappointed that a built-in battery is replaced by the need to insert four AA batteries, but there’s no doubting the quality of this DAB radio’s aesthetics and audio.Similar to the other products in the Elan portfolio, the Pure Elan E3 portable radio is slim, sleek and lightweight. From a sound quality perspective, the Elan E3 excels. Despite a compact form, this product from Pure delivers exceptional volume and clarity.
