About this deal

Available on vinyl for the first time, listeners can experience this seminal moment in the band's history and savor the music that emerged from this unforgettable performance. I'm not much of a fan of the '06-'07 vinyl remasters compared to originals but the remasters of Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby they got right.

The concert is Just awesome and tom drums on "With or without you" sounded like thunders on my hi-fi system. Mine is dead quiet and sounds fantastic, absolute silence in quiet passages of songs like "Running so stand still". Its savage beauty and ominous disposition, courtesy of Bono's superb songwriting, is pervasive, but not to the extent that it becomes overwhelming. Arriving in six formats, the collection includes a live recording of The Joshua Tree Tour from Madison Square Gardens in 1987, b-sides from the original singles, outtakes and new remixes from Daniel Lanois, St Francis Hotel, Jacknife Lee, Steve Lillywhite and Flood form part of this special edition of The Joshua Tree. Splitting the album on 2 LPs + the remaster have brought depth and transcendence to this album that eluded me on the single disc OG copies I’ve acquired previously.

As Stone Turntable mentioned it sold millions when released (believe it's definitely in the top 20 best selling albums in history) so just keep your eyes peeled for an original pressing - think I read in other threads the US release is the most desirable.

Beverly Hills, New York City and London, Loma Vista Recordings are an ever-evolving family of creatives, home to many iconic artists we know and love at Rough Trade. That being said, this pressing smokes my old CD, the soundstage and detail are fabulous, you just gotta crank up the bass 4 or 5 notches to really make With or Without you sound right. Haters be a hating, there's no denying Daniel Lanois took the band into the stratosphere and all it took was a trip to California. The inner is without credit "Additional Rhythm Guitar : Daniel Lanois" when compared to U2 - The Joshua Tree.Needless to say, "The Joshua Tree" is a masterpiece, much less the widely celebrated classic album that U2 had been working towards over the course of seven years. Thanks to critical and public excitement generated by successive hit singles, popular MTV videos and exuberant live performances, U2 were on the cusp of international stardom. The only place where I would find noise is at the end of some sides in the run out when there is no music just before the needle lifts. The Joshua Tree Live at Madison Square Garden 28th September 1987 (Features selected tracks from the concert with no overdubs or corrections. If you're as big a U2 fan as I and are looking to own one of the best pressings, consider yourself lucky to possess a clean copy of this one.

I'm also generally not into boxsets as they are often bloated with the same material remixed, repackaged, reboxed, etc. This has always been a Top 10 (maybe even Top 5) album for me and on vinyl - it's like hearing it for the first time. Distortion increases the closer you get to the label and you also don't want to pack grooves too close together. I am listening to this right now immediately after listening to the CSNY Deja Vu deluxe box set, and while that album was never considered a great recording, the dynamics are *way* better than Joshua Tree. Time Magazine put U2 on its cover in April 1987, proclaiming them "Rock’s Hottest Ticket" in a defining year for the band that saw their arena dates roll into stadium shows to accommodate escalating demand - setting them on course to become one of the greatest live acts in the world today.

I have a Joshua Tree vinyl with the matrix run out side b as U26 B //4 (upside down triangle) 420 H. GZ are not what they once were, check out their releases over the last year and you'll find them hugely improved across the board. Every soul stirring stadium singalong is culturally momentous, capturing the very essence of the era whilst sounding conversely caustic and canorous.

But I will say, if a big fan, this is a very cool look back at candid shots of the band just before they would explode onto the world.around the world selling in excess of 25 million copies and catapulting Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr " . Pressing mistakes over and over and on top of those i have Side 1 on both sides of record one, that means Side 2 is missing in my version. Isn't part of the point to press on 2 vinyl to use the whole side to achieve benefits of wider grooves? As diverse, challenging and aggressive as their previous records, "The Joshua Tree" had the additional benefit of overt immediacy, lushness and grandiosity that gave each of the 11 songs contained within an undeniable and utterly rewarding cinematic quality.
