About this deal

Making the listening experience even more immersive, JBL’s Live Free 2 earbuds feature ANC (Active Noise Cancelling). It is important to remember that high listening volume can consume more energy from connected devices. With the warranty booklet printed in 31 languages, illustrations are a logical way to convey operational info.

Moreover, being closed back further empowers you to notice all the details by eliminating most external noise. Six beamforming microphones reduce wind and noise interference so your words always come through loud and clear. It's decent for most use cases and should be enough to last you a day if you do not have long continuous listening sessions, but they won't be ideal for more heavy users and is shorter than similarly designed headsets. The JBL Free Truly Wireless 2018 are slightly better truly wireless headphones than the Jaybird Run Truly Wireless, but have a lot more flaws with their wireless connection, which may be a deal-breaker for some. The JBL Free have more additional charges but have a lower continuous playback time than the Tune 120.Both headphones have short battery life, but the XFYRO have better wireless range and you can also use their case to charge up other devices, which can be useful. I enjoyed Sam Sparro’s “Black and Gold,” Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb,” Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons,” Skillet’s “Better than Drugs,” and many others. For example, the only Bluetooth codecs JBL supports in the Live Free 2 are the standard SBC and AAC codecs. Designed for the general crowd, the Free II is a pair that intends to be as accessible as feasible without being of inferior quality. Not particularly eye-catching, but notably more premium looking than the JBL Live Pro 2, which debuted alongside the Live Free 2.

Unfortunately, despite their rugged and decently sturdy design they do not feel or look as premium as some of the other truly wireless headsets we've reviewed, like Beoplay E8 or the Apple AirPods (1st generation) Truly Wireless. Immediately paired as soon as you flip open the case, each earbud of the JBL Free II can be used independently in mono or stereo mode, saving battery life. However, a certain limiting factor of wireless headphones compared to wired ones is a certain delay in sound transmission between the source and the headphones (but almost indistinguishable for the average user) and the need for regular charging.

They also come with a customizable companion app that lets you EQ their sound quality and has better health tracking features. When I started listening to them, the first thing I noticed was that the JBL Live Free 2 are very bass-forward. If you want a decent sounding and stable in-ear with a wired connection, we would suggest the Mee Audio M6 PRO or the 1More Triple Driver In-Ear.

Reddit and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to provide you with a better experience. You will have to pull out your phone whenever you want to lower or increase the volume of your audio, which is slightly disappointing. It comes with dual-mode compatibility to get the flexibility to use both earbuds or go mono by using either one of the two earbuds.
