About this deal

That isn’t a criticism; the Kraken Z-3 series is one of the most beautiful CPU coolers we have seen to date. The active thermal monitoring on the pump’s LCD is a nice feature and the AER 2 fans provide multi-zone RGB with limited cabling. You are going to pay enthusiast prices for these features, but here are a few things to consider.

If after disabling all other detected programs the Kraken is still not responding in CAM, this could indicate an issue with the USB cable or the USB connection to the Motherboard. If you are using any kind of USB Expansion, Splitter, or Hub within the PC it is recommend to connect the Kraken directly to the Motherboard's internal USB 2.0 header to confirm if the issue is with the Kraken itself or due to this device between the Kraken and the Motherboard. As we mentioned before, we did want to test out the Kraken Z63 in NZXT’s own environment. As it turned out, I happened to be collecting some parts to throw together an Intel Core i5 10600K-based system. And what we saw was a remarkably similar story. The Kraken Z63 held the CPU at just under 60C while under load and kept the CPU at around 40C (18C over ambient) immediately following. Once the search completes, you should get a list of all detected software accessing USB devices including NZXT CAM. Take note all of these programs and try disabling them from starting with the Windows software. You can do this either from the options settings within the individual programs or by using the Startup section of the Task Manager in Windows. With the rather large 280mm and 360mm radiator setup for the Z63 nd Z73, NZXT has been able to largely distance itself from such problems. Our testing setup included the following hardware: Actual performance varies with AIO coolers since these products allow for almost anyone to get into water-cooling, but they omit one vital component of any custom loop — the reservoir. One way to battle this, especially with smaller 120mm radiator units, is to bump the pump and fan speeds, which can have a negative effect on noise generation. But the real question is how well the system works, and if the Kraken Z63 RGB is worth the price of entry. In the new H510 Flow case, the Kraken Z63 RGB delivered a low of 23 degrees, with it never pushing past 40 degrees, even under heavy load. We saw an average temperature of around 30 degrees, when doing testing within Windows, and some light gaming. Overall, this is fantastic compared to the DeepCool AIO on the same system that topped out at over 45 degrees, with it never dropping below 30, even when idle. As discussed in our NZXT H510 Flow review, the Kraken Z63 RGB 280mm was extremely easy to install in the case, with all the needed components properly labelled and easily outlined for the installation. The setup for the system took no longer than 30 minutes, and that included unboxing and placing everything in the case. While we at the CGMagazine office are experienced with PC building, the included instructions and smart design choices should mean even inexperienced people should have little to no issue setting everything up. They just need to have a case that offers the space needed and follow the instructions. If you notice any distortions in these colors, this can indicate that a particular channel is failing on the Kraken and would require the cooler to be replaced. For example, a failing Blue channel will cause White to appear as Yellow while a failing Green channel will cause White to appear as Magenta. I've confirmed my Kraken is either failing or defective, what do I do next? With a bright, 2.36” LCD screen capable of displaying 24-bit color, you can now completely customize the look of your CPU cooler. Whether it’s an iconic image, personal photo, funny gif, or CAM data, you can use your Kraken to express yourself in an exciting new way.

It is important to note that the testing benches used to collect the comparative data were different. However, the conditions of the testing were meticulous replicated as best as possible)In other words, regardless of platform, the Kraken kept its cools. While not as frosty as some of its competition while idling, it handled high temperatures at bay while under load with consistency, not allowing any spikes. Let’s look beyond a singular number for a moment. Thermal temperatures peaked at around the five minute mark of the test, coincidentally, for around five minutes, holding at roughly 62C over ambient temperatures. After being under load for about twelve minutes into the test, temperatures dipped to around 42C over ambient temperatures as the Kraken stabilized. In the final three minutes, it rose to 60 C over ambient near the end of our twenty minute test. After a short time, the Kraken sat comfortably at around 18C over ambient temperatures. Speaking of these fans, NZXT has a good thing going for it when it comes to the AER 2 RGB. Each fan has in and out ports built into them with removable wiring, allowing for daisy-chaining the RGB elements. This saves on extra cables to manage throughout the case as well as on ports in “smart hubs.” In the case of the Kraken, that is the hub for RGB connection is built into the pump’s breakout cable - which also contains three fan header connections as well.

Most PCs running Windows 10 or 11 will likely be the 64-bit version of Windows. If you are unsure as to the version installed on your PC, you can press Windows+R to bring up the Runwindow and run msinfo32. This will be listed as the System Type. With these programs disabled from startup, restart your PC and confirm if the issue is still occurring or if the issue has been resolved. If you are able to control your Kraken's RGB again, try re-enabling each disabled program one at a time, restarting between each program being added until you find the offending program. My Kraken RGB is still not responding in NZXT CAM The included Aer P radiator fans are designed for liquid-cooling perfection. Featuring a chamfered intake and fluid dynamic bearings, they deliver silent operation, long-term reliability, and powerful cooling performance. For Kraken M22, X42, X52, and X72 coolers, please connect a Mini USB (Mini-B) to USB Type-A cable from the USB port on the Kraken to any open USB Type-A port on your PC.Thermaltake: Water 3.0 Riing RGB 360, 280, 240, Red 280, 140 - Water 3.0 Ultimate - Extreme S, Extreme, Pro, Performer - Water 2.0 Extreme, Pro, Performer Fine nylon mesh sleeves strengthen the rubber tubing, providing durability and protection against mishandling. With the fully programmable display, the pump can be rotated in 90 degree increments to fit the needs of your motherboard without affecting the direction of the logo or image. It’s hard to argue that NZXT’s Kraken products are among the most iconic all-in-one CPU coolers on the market today. Whether it’s mirrored LEDs of the Infinity Mirror Display or just that sleek NZXT design around the Asetek pump head, there are few that come close to being so immediately recognizable. But, when you have a product like this that is so iconic, where do you go from there? If after completing the above steps your Kraken is either failing, defective, or you require further assistance then please reach out to our Customer Supportteam for further assistance. Please be sure to have the following information on hand, as this will be needed in the event that a Replacement Part or RMA(Return Merchandise Authorization) is necessary. For Kraken X53, X63, and X73 coolers or the Kraken Z series, please connect a Micro USB (Micro-B) to USB Type-A cable from the USB port on the Kraken to any open USB Type-A port on your PC.
