About this deal

Standard registered jacks, known as RJ-type jacks, are found in nearly every communication and data system. The twists are important because they help cancel electrical noise that is inherent in electrical cables. If the cable is solid with a matching stripe (Blue with a white stripe and white with a blue stripe twisted together, even better).

All three jack types are used to connect phones—for one-, two-, and three-line service respectively. If you need to use a length of cable with RJ-45 connectors in an RJ-11 application, you can purchase an adapter. RJ-45 connectors are usually attached to a CAT-5 or Cate-5e cable with eight wires, commonly used in computer networking. Flatten out the wires so they will fit into the connector, and cut the wires evenly, abouot one inch from the end of the wire casing. Connect both ends of the cable the same to an RJ45 JACK (do not crimp ends on the cable), essentially we are going to substitute color pairs of the existing cable for "standard" color codes in EIA/TIA 568B color code.Overall bandwidth is, of course, contingent upon what other components of the network such as cabling or routers can support.

RJ45 connectors can support 10Gbps over Ethernet, provided the other equipment like network cables also support that speed.

In fact, the RJ45(S) jack — as defined in the standardized spec — is rarely used, but the RJ45 commonly refers to any 8P8C modular connector used in computer networking (Ethernet).

Untwist the four pairs of wires and arrange them from left to right starting with the white-and-green wire, followed by the white-and-orange wire, the solid blue wire, the white-and-blue wire, the solid orange wire and the solid green wire. Making a cable for your DSL modem using both RJ-45 and RJ-11 connections allows you to save money and use as little or as much CAT5 cable as you need for your project. If you cable is Red/Green Yellow/Black, connect the green to Pin 1, the Red to pin 2, the black to pin 3 and the yellow to pin 6, do the same on both ends and connect with a standard patch cable to the router and computer.I can tell you right now you’re gonna throw this idea out the window as soon as your video games start glitching in the heat of a battle. I have random RJ11 wires in house which have been cut off as they were used for the master socket and the master socket was in an awkward place. However, trying to convert an RJ-11 to an RJ-45 adapter is ill-advised, since there aren't enough wires and telephone wire isn't designed to accommodate the digital signals used in network cables. In theory, telephony cable can be used to support 10/100 connections (not Gigabit) over short distances. RJ12 connectors can be used in place of RJ11 because RJ12 has all the connectors RJ11 needs (plus 4 extra).
