About this deal

I'm lost, you save you can't save your mappings? When you save your live set all MIDI Mappings are saved are they not?? If you are interested in diving deep into custom mappings and bulk editing the .syx file using hex editors and python and stuff I found this. https://www.reddit.com/r/novationcircui ... &context=3 Set to user mode I can midi map each of 24 knobs to reflect the 8 EQ options, in EQ8, each row for frequency, gain and Q.

Novation Launch Control XL Controller for Ableton Live

I have different templates on AUM and whenever I want to start a project i load the template and every control I need is on my hand. Once you have the 5 templates loaded to your Launch Control XL you no longer need the Editor. Now you can connect the LC XL to Circuit via your DAW or use a stand-alone USB host. We have provided an Ableton Live project template that handles the MIDI communication between the two devices. This can be loaded in to Live Lite 9 that comes with your Launch Control XL. First impressions are great: the Launch Control XL's roughly 9.5" square plastic casing feels surprisingly rugged, and its natty orange rubber base should help defend it somewhat from the rigours of life on the road. This is sometimes referred to as 'blue hand' behavior. It gives you 8 parameters to control at a time with a bank select. In the case of the EQ I forget what each bank does but there is a handy note that shows up at the bottom of the screen when you switch banks. The Novation LaunchControl XLcomes with some great software too so you have more than enough to get up and running. It feels like it's been ages since Novation released the original Launchpad, their seminal grid controller for Ableton Live. Since its release in 2009, the unassuming little device has been spotted in countless artists' setups, both live and in the studio. It has even served as a springboard to viral popularity for some musicians, Madeon being a prominent example. Despite its raging success, Novation held off from expanding the Launch line for four years, a surprisingly long stretch. Last year they unleashed a barrage of new devices, raising the number of controllers sharing the Launch family name to eight. The latest is the Launch Control XL, a mixer-style MIDI controller with built-in integration for Ableton Live. Melodics is an innovative learning app for your desktop that takes mastering your Novation Launchpad to a whole new level. Making a custom script for the basic functionality it's really no big deal, you can control 8 first volume faders and sends, as well as use one set of knobs for macro controls. We’ve teamed up with Melodics to bring Launchpad users a very special offer, including free lessons and huge discounts on Melodics subscriptions. To set the LaunchControl XL up as a HUI control surface in Pro Tools, navigate to ‘Setup’ > ‘Peripherals’ > ‘MIDI Controllers’. Set a MIDI controller ‘Type’ > ‘HUI’, ‘Receive From’ > ‘LaunchControl XL HUI’, ‘Send To’ > ‘LaunchControl XL HUI’ and ‘#Ch’s’ > ‘8’ as shown below:

The ideal use for this device would be the ability to treat a VST like a full-fledged hardware synth...with that number of controls, it makes no sense not to give us that option. If using a Mac, please open the ‘Audio MIDI Setup’ application on your Mac, select ‘Window’ > ‘Show MIDI Studio’ and in the ‘MIDI Studio’ window, ensure the Launch Control XL is showing two MIDI ports - ‘Launch Control XL’ and ‘HUI’ as shown below: Mapping your Launchkey to the virtual parameters in Reason requires a few very simple steps using the REMOTE OVERRIDE EDIT feature. For both Mac & Windows this mode can be accessed through the OPTIONS menu drop-down located on the Reason toolbar: Want more grid? Just add another Launchpad - or perhaps a Launchpad Pro, which you can play like an instrument or use to control your other MIDI hardware. Not got much desk space? Try a Launchpad Mini instead.or create a new one from scratch - this new template is the default User template that comes on the unit. I think the game changer was to use pots instead of coders with led ring, cause if you move to different channels… the values wont reassign. Very informative answer, thanks! I’m on a tight budget and have limited space so still leaning towards the apc40 m2. I have searched, but only found snippets and thought maybe someone might already be doing this as it seems to me to be a common sense usage of this unit in conjuntion with Ableton Live. We began with Live on OS X. After configuration in Live's Preferences, the device had immediate control over Live, with three separate templates, covering more detailed mixer functions, sends, clip launching, and device control. With user presets as well, the Control made a great little controller for Live. There's also a dedicated on-screen editor, which adds further flexibility.

Getting Started Guide

hi - yeah i havent mapped much because with the control surface thing i found i dont really have to but ive done a few things and the midi mappings are still there - 5 of them at the moment in preset user 1. my macro mappings are still there too Once you have the editor running, connect your Launch Control XL. You then need to load the templates one at a time and save them to your unit. The steps are: Just bought a second hand UC-33e as i wanted to have sliders for volume controls…. This looks like a up-to-date similar thing.. I had this very dilema and spent almost a month deciding what to get. I went for the launchpad with Control XL. The Control XL only works fully…with live 9.1.4. The quality of the unit is good, it`s solid enough..and the faders are long which is how I like it. The APC faders are much shorther. The Control XL with Launchpad S is a pretty awesome combo though, and both units are better quality that the new APC40 mk 2. In that regard, it probably has 5 more faders and a bunch more knobs and buttons than I need for this application, but since the device editor is user friendly and gives a lot of options, I'm sure I'll gradually come up with some uses for the buttons and knobs along the way, it's not like the footprint of the device is hogging up that much desktop space.UPDATED: User Mode 6 can now include the 8 faders for Device Control taking the maximum number to 32 Don't expect to be able to use either of those with Groovebox, I think Launchkey is the only supported controller. Also pretty sure they won't work with Cubasis mixer either, you can use it with synths/FX hosted in Cubasis though .
