About this deal

For someone that currently has a 86u but wants to add a 2nd router via AImesh to beef up signal is some far reaching spots in the house where multiple walls interfere with the signal (doorbell camera, bedrooms on far side of house from router, etc.), would you see much benefit in a 2nd 86u over a cheaper 86s? Or are there other lower cost alternatives for a 2nd router you’d recommend, maybe something lower profile (lan ports not needed, just extending the wifi coverage)? Thanks! Reply guaranteed to provide the best overall experience for Intel ® Evo™ laptops. Enjoy simple out-of-the-box setup, high- Asus RT-AX88U Pro will probably be my last Wi-Fi 6 router review. And even if it's not, it's unlikely that the next one will make it to this list. Getting connected: Dual-WAN vs Link Aggregation | Dual-band vs Tri-band vs Quad-band | Fiber-optic vs Cable | Getting your home wired | Multi-Gig explained | Cable modem activation | Routers explained | Mesh explained So my question is, first, do you recommend upgrading to WiFi6 (is it going to give me improvement in connection quality assuming most of my clients are still WiFi5?) and if yes, which one of those would you recommend? The Netgear WAX204 sure is different. Netgear calls it an Access Point, but it is a Wi-Fi 6 router. And it's a catch! There are a few lists for different home sizes, including small, medium, and large, determined by the number of users and not necessarily space -- again, you need a mesh for a large home. Alternatively I can get zenwifi Xt8, and create a mesh but I’m wary of the firmware and additional software issues this creates. Let me know what you think, thanks. ReplyThe more features you use, the more recourses are needed generally, James. So yes, NAS, QoS, Protection, etc., will benefit from high processing power. VPN by itself doesn’t require much, but more power doesn’t hurt. Reply Hi Rob. I remember that one. It’s the very first tri-band router on the market. You got a piece of history there. 🙂 Dong, I have one question, which I have tried to get answered, but haven´t really been able to find a definitiver answer. Asus GT-AX6000 Best Wi-Fi 6 Routers: The Asus ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 is massive. Most importantly, it's Asus's ultimate Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 router. Would a dedicated access point be better, instead of a router as an access point and leaving everything for Wi-Fi?

It’s virtually impossible to say anything for sure with Wi-Fi, James. That’s just the nature of wireless. There are many Wi-Fi routers that are good for gaming, but Wi-Fi is always hit or miss, depending on your location. I speak from experience. At the moment where Im from the RT-AX86U Pro is just 50 eur more than RT-AX86S while the RT-AX86U is not available anymore. Reply
