About this deal

Moving forward, expect even more brands to release planar IEMs at various price points. If you want to hear for yourself just how good a planar IEM can be, the affordable 7Hz Salnotes Dioko is worth a gander. But if you have the budget and prefer something a bit more fun-sounding, the Hook-X will not disappoint. Thank YouFellas and Ladies, I really want to thank anyone who chose to read anything that I write. I truly love to explain what I hear and to do it in a way that I leave nothing on the table. Leave it all on the field so to speak. Maybe one day I’ll get better at it. We have a great community of people in this hobby of ours and I do enjoy helping one another out. Ultimately though, it’s all about the music and the endless pursuit to find better ways to best enjoy that music. Yes, its possible to mix fun with mature musicality, and this alternative to bassy V shape is certainly more needed than ever. Drivers - IEMs use drivers to reproduce sound. These miniaturised driver components are like the ones used in full-size headphones but smaller. The drivers in IEMs include dynamic, balanced armature, planar magnetic, electrostatic, and hybrid drivers. All these drivers come with their lists of pros and cons.

vs. EST50. EST50 has an edge in treble, vocals, soundstage width and height. Hook-X owns the imaging. The flat faceplate of the Hook-X isn’t boring owing to the punched holes organized in a linear pattern from the center and out. I can’t quite zero in on the actual material used, but to the touch, it feels papery and doesn’t get as cold as the aluminum housing. When I started writing this blog, there were virtually no planar in-ear headphones. The only model that I recall being there, and even then appearing a while after I started writing, was the Audeze iSine. Since then there’s been a lot of improvement in the technology and planar in-ears are now not so exceptional. The RAPTGO HOOK-X do not content themselves with using a planar driver, as they pair it with a piezoelectric driver that takes care of the upper range of frequencies. With results that I would define “mixed”.The RAPTGO HOOK-X use the classic in-ear monitor type of design, with a triangular shape and an angled nozzle. They’re quite large, but mostly in terms of depth, so they should fit comfortably in most people’s ears (more on that later). The design itself is nothing special as the faceplates are pieces of metal with holes in them, which is hardly distinctive. The only concession to aesthetics is that the edges of the rims around the faceplates are bright green. The white ear tips were used in the formulation of the sound impressions. How the sound is changed by swapping tips will be discussed separately. Summary

The Raptgo Hook X HBB is a fresh breath of air in this IEM world invade with Harman and DF neutral tuning and offers a muscular musicality that doesn't bet on one specific frequency range and delivers full-bodied dynamic for bass, mids, and treble. The soundstage is another highlight of Hook X, it’s very open wide, and tall with more than decent deepness even if slightly opaque timbre interferes with psychoacoustic traveling of this depth. Most of all, it’s very holographic, so hey, VR-approved too? Why not!
