I dnf this book solely because of that, I’m so clueless as to how people were able to stomach this and label it as romance lol. You're the first person that's ever been annoyed by my not liking a book for my own personal reasons, and I'm sure you won't be the last. When you make someone fall in love with the darkest parts of you, there’s nothing you can do that will scare them away. I don't careee if it's just a joke or whatever, pick something else to joke about or find another way to show your appreciation for your friend, but stop treating sapphic relationships like jokes. The later sex scenes are a little better because she’s more “attracted” to him and apparently gets off on the fear like okay whatever woman. the only reason i read this book was to clear my confusion because i've seen phenomenal reviews about it but also alot of people mentioned the rape scenes .

Now I just don't read books labeled "dark romance" as I can only assume that they're mostly like this. The contents are very dark with triggering situations, such as non/dub con between the main characters, graphic violence, human trafficking, child slave trade, stalking, child trafficking, child sacrifice, mentions of child death, kidnapping, near-death situations, and explicit sexual situations.
