About this deal

Surprised to find himself reborn as a rambunctious golden haired puppy after a tragically short life as a stray mutt, Bailey's search for his new life's meaning leads him into the loving arms of 8 year old Ethan. During their countless adventures Bailey joyously discovers how to be a good dog. This book was received as an ARC from Macmillan-Tor/Forge - Forge Books in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

Betty Gilpin Joins Dennis Quaid, Josh Gad in 'A Dog's Purpose' Follow-Up (Exclusive)". The Hollywood Reporter. 26 August 2018.Maybe it's more of a young adult book. Something for the pre-teen daughters. I like my sentences compound and when I can breeze through a novel in less than two hours, so.... As usual, Cameron pushes his story along from the mind and watchful eyes of the novel’s beloved canine hero(es). The dogs are completely dedicated to their humans – and to getting as many treats as possible, of course. Devotion is, in fact, at the heart of this heartwarming novel. Well, it’s all about the purpose of a dog – again, but, this time, Cameron’s canine hero gets a specific request to find his new purpose. To do so, however, he must leave those “golden shores” where he had found an eternal opportunity to romp with all the humans he’s ever loved. Because we are headed into a season where gift-giving is common, this would be a great way to take care of some of the people on your list. And, of course, take care of yourself—do you want a signed, personalized, first edition of A Dog’s Promise?

We named the dog Cammie. She arrived in my life when I was just beginning to connect some of the dots in my memory to make a picture of who I was, forming my identity as a child. I remember every skinned knee and bicycle ride in the context of Cammie, who was always there for me. And I lost her just as I was starting to leave childhood behind, passing on after I’d spent a year in college. That’s Cammie, the dog of my childhood. I have to say, as much as I love this author, as much as I love the movies that get made from his books (A Dog's Journey, which is A Dog's Purpose #2 is easily the best of the three movies) I had some trepidation. I thought to myself, will I be tired of hearing the ongoing adventures of Bailey, Bailey, Bailey which I thought had come to a happy ending at the end of book and movie #2 in the A Dog's Purpose series?

The book is suitable for readers of all ages and Baily gradually grows in wisdom as his life continues. There is a huge twist in the story too which I am reluctant to reveal because of spoilers. I prefer to tempt potential readers to discover for themselves what is so different about this beautiful book.
