About this deal

Dachshunds can come in a variety of red hues, all of which are simply considered to be Red. Though sometimes a Dachshund may appear to be brown, this is actually incorrect since brown isn’t a color that Dachshunds come in. Instead, this is simply a Red Dachshund with less red pigment.

The genes that the Dachshund have will be what determines what color and what type of coat that your Dachshund will have. When there are different combinations of genes between the parent breed, this can cause there to be different colors in your Dachshund. Genes and Coat Type One of the most important and effective measures to prevent health problems in dachshunds is Supplementation. Sometimes the markings will be a solid design, or it can be a design that is more subtle and can be an overlay of the color. Markings are also called patterns and can be over any base color. What is the Rarest Dachshund Color? You won’t see fawn and blue or white and cream, but rather a dark color combined with a lighter color.

Dachshund Colors and Patterns (with pictures)

The main reason for the strictness on coat colours is that introducing some of the rare hues can lead to the offsprings with genetic health conditions. ( For instance, double dapple dachshunds). This is one of the most favorite colors of those looking for a Dachshund. The main color of this color combination is normally a dark brown color, and this covers the head, ears, body, and tail. The chocolate coat color is one that can also get confusing, as it looks similar to tan or red. Chocolate will often be combined with tan or cream. Blue A double dapple is when two dappled dogs are bred together. It’s considered unethical because it can result in dogs with serious health issues. Many puppies can be missing eyes, be blind, and/or be deaf. 3. Brindle Dachshund (AKC) Source: @barneys_adventure / IG

A brindle Doxie is a pup that appears to have stripes over a base color. You may see a red dog with lighter or darker stripes or a cream dog with dark stripes all over. 4. Sable Dachshund (AKC) Source: @whatsupwith_winifred / IG Cream dachshunds should be a mid-golden brown color all over with slight reddish hues. American cream pups should not be confused with English creams, which have real British lineage in their blood. The easiest way to tell the difference is by looking at their coat length as English creams only come in the long-haired variety. American creams come in both short and long-haired types. If your pup does not come with an authentic pedigree showing British lineage you have a regular American cream. Double Dapple DachshundMany Sable patterns will have a Widow’s Peak on the head. The Sable should not be confused with the red color because many heavily shaded red Dachshunds are confused as Sables when they aren’t. Brindle Dachshunds Brindle Dachshund Many breeders avoid breeding dogs of these patterns for this reason, and the AKC won’t register double dapples. Since the white color is so rare, it can have many issues. Lighter pigmented dogs have more health problems than other colored dogs. Yes. The color of the dog can affect the health of the Dachshund. A dog that is a rare color might have health issues that are dangerous such as blindness and deafness. Does the Dachshund’s eye color change with age? Dachshunds with the Wild Boar coloration almost appear to be patterned, but it’s actually a color variation. This coloration only comes in wirehaired and occasionally smooth Dachshunds, but never a longhaired.
