Dachshunds can come in a variety of red hues, all of which are simply considered to be Red. Though sometimes a Dachshund may appear to be brown, this is actually incorrect since brown isn’t a color that Dachshunds come in. Instead, this is simply a Red Dachshund with less red pigment.

The chocolate coat color is one that can also get confusing, as it looks similar to tan or red. Chocolate will often be combined with tan or cream. Blue A double dapple is when two dappled dogs are bred together. It’s considered unethical because it can result in dogs with serious health issues. A brindle Doxie is a pup that appears to have stripes over a base color. You may see a red dog with lighter or darker stripes or a cream dog with dark stripes all over. 4. American cream pups should not be confused with English creams, which have real British lineage in their blood.
