About this deal

Once VirtualDJ 8 is launched, a Login Window will appear to enter your virtualdj.com account credentials. The Pioneer DDJ range comes with a full version of Serato DJ software, excluding the DDJ-SB, which comes with Serato Intro. Pioneer have included up to 8 performance pads through out the DDJ range which can be used to trigger hot cues, roll, slicer and samples. The Pionner DDJ range allows the DJ to get more creative with the mix, providing a whole new dimension to DJing. The unit should be visible in the CONTROLLERS tab of Config and the “factory default” available/selected from the Mappings drop-down list. The factory default Mapping offers the functions described in this Manual, however those can be adjusted to your needs via VDJ Script actions.

Operation is not guaranteed on all computers, even if all the required operating environment conditions indicated here are fulfilled.

N ote : The Microphone Input at the left-side panel of the DDJ-SB is a Hardware Input and not part of the USB Audio interface. As result of this, the Microphone input cannot be part of the VirtualDJ audio configuration and the signal cannot be recorded along with your mixing. A Pro Infinity, a Plus or a Pro Subscription License is required to fully use the Pioneer DDJ-SB Without any of the above Licenses, the controller will operate for 10 minutes each time you restart VirtualDJ. Software products not supporting controllers: VirtualDJ Home, VirtualDJ Broadcaster and VirtualDJ Pro Basic.

Serato DJ Pro 3.0.12 is out now, bringing support for the Denon DJ PRIME 4+, Hercules DJControl Inpulse 300, and Hercules DJControl Inpulse 200. Denon DJ PRIME 4+ support

A detection window will appear right after, asking to use or not the pre-defined audio setup with the built-in sound card of the DDJ-SB You can still change that from Settings->AUDIO tab. The Denon DJ PRIME 4+ is a powerful 4-channel controller with a large 10.1-inch touchscreen display. It comes equipped with extensive connectivity and performance features, including 16 Performance Pads and FX controls. Hercules DJControl Inpulse 300 support Read our Windows optimization guide for best performance across both recommended and high performance tiers The unit has a pre-defined Audio setup and a special button in the AUDIO tab of Config to provide that. Alternative Audio setups can be applied in the same window. Holding the DDJ-SB2 felt familiar – I’ve DJed with many controllers over the last few years, and there are controllers that feel kinda oversized ( DDJ-SZ, and even the DDJ-SX2 come to mind), while there are ones that feel like tiny little plastic toys.

MIDI Operation

The DDJ-SB2, while indeed made of plastic, hardly feels like a toy – it gives me more of an impression that it’s meant to be a portable controller for the serious DJ, someone who uses a full club CDJ set-up but wants something handy for his or her next bar / pub gig. Drivers (for Windows only): Install the latest ASIO drivers from http://www.pioneerdj.com/en/support/software/ddj-sb/#drivers I’ve been using a Traktor Kontrol S8 for a few months now, and it’s a real beast not just performance-wise, but physically as well. It’s big, heavy (I got the flight case), and wide, so my biggest problems with gigs are bringing the controller to the venue and setting it up in what always seems to be a tiny DJ booth made to fit just a laptop and little else. Combine this with the fact that I usually come after another DJ who has his or her own controller, and it makes for a ridiculous set-up situation akin to tap dancing with your hands.

All the features from the original DDJ-SB that made it an attractive proposition are still here: the chunky / responsive jogwheels, three band EQ and dedicated filter knobs, and the switchable bank of four pads that can be assigned to control Hot Cues, Auto Loop, Manual Loop, and the Serato SP-6 Sampler.Firmware: Update the firmware of the unit to the latest version from http://www.pioneerdj.com/en/support/software/ddj-sb/#firmware-update
