About this deal

Granda also is a certified liar, who gave official statements that contradict what he now says. What are we supposed to believe? wildly inappropriate psychiatrist that holds the patients hands when she is upset… I’m sorry pretty sure thats blurring some lines

The characters are fun. More fun I would say. The story well planned out with much details. The art is amazing as always. Minimal yet effectively entertaining! While some people love murder podcast, I love corrupt evangelicals podcasts, so I've listened to several featuring the story of the downfall of Jerry Falwell, Jr. and the toxic culture he fostered on the Liberty University campus. I found the main characters of this book a little boring, if im honest. Although Jules had some depth, the main arc of her storyline didn't really make too much sense to me. Amber was a little annoying at first, but did grow on me a little near the end. And then a bit later on all the summer fun and adventure become alive. Yes, it would have been so much better to read this one during the summer! The ending is literal garbage - it wasn’t the focus of the whole book there was no lead in - no mention of what was to come… I get it it’s a twist but you don’t tell a story about 89 other things then throw in a WILD AF twist that has nothing to do with the rest of the plot thats just frustrating. NAH… sorry but this book pissed me right off and wasted my time. 🤬

The following version of the book was used to create this study guide:Heffley, Greg; Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Deep End. ABRAMS Books, New York, NY, 2020. Kindle AZW file. I am really unsure what the author was going for when she wrote Jules but what we got was a childlike idiot who couldn’t seem to make up her mind what kind of diagnosis she had... I mean at one point she was homeless and being ‘inappropriate’ with herself in a park… PLEASE unnecessary!! 🤢 This book gripped me right from the opening chapters. Former therapist turned stay-at-home mom Jules lives a nightmare when she swerves her car to avoid a deer and ends up in an icy lake. Confused and disoriented, she latches on to a hand and rises to the surface. She realizes with her horror that she's saved the wrong boy. Her son is still submerged, while her neighbor's son is safe.

A Note From the Publisher

The co-author goes on to claim that Granda's "youthful indiscretion" (a misnomer, like others in the book) "may also have played a not insignificant role in making a person like Trump president."

I love it when The Heffleys go away and they all want to do their own thing but never get to do those things. Greg's mum always wants them to spend time together as a family and make memories but nothing ever goes according to her plans either. Hilarious! Art is spectacular as always and takes the story to another level. Thank you NetGalley, Thomas & Mercer and of course Lucinda Berry for letting me read “Off the Deep End” in exchange for an honest review. I am a compulsive reader of literary novels…but there was one book that kept me reading, the sort of novel I can’t put down… The Perfect Child, by Lucinda Berry. It speaks to the fear of every parent: What if your child was a psychopath? This novel takes it a step further. A couple, desperate for a child, has the chance to adopt a beautiful little girl who, they are told, has been abused. They’re told it might take a while for her to learn to behave and trust people. She can be sweet and loving, and in public she is adorable. But in private—well, I won’t give away what happens. But needless to say, it’s chilling.” —Gina Kolata, New York TimesThank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for sharing this book with me. Your kindness is appreciated. Meanwhile there's a serial killer on the loose killing teenage boys. The MO fit's perfect into Isaacs disappearance. Out walking dog, cell phone found on the side of the road, and a perfectly wrapped box of the last clothes he was wearing discovered in a local park - like all the other victims but Amber can't and won't believe it. It's Jules, Jules, Jules and she is not willing to consider anything else and will stop at nothing to prove her point. Jules life shatters when she crashes her car into a lake and her son dies. There is one survivor, another boy called Isaac. Jules has nothing to live for, until Isaac starts visiting her in the hospital. But then Isaac disappears and his family are convinced it’s all Jules fault. Faced with her son's death, Jules goes mad with grief. Meanwhile, Isaac Greer, the teenage boy she had rescued is now missing and his family is trying to find him. Oh yes before you fly off the handle ( if you haven't already) they did not have sex. he used a turkey baster. she didn't want to "blur the lines of their relationship?) she said " i helped him with his school project and he helped me with mine. He kept me alive i kept him alive" they planned that for WEEKS (the baby i mean)

Jules is driving her son Gabe and another boy named Isaac home after a game in the evening when a deer jumps out in front of the car. Jules loses control of the car and they end up sinking in an icy lake. Jules goes to grab her son but pulls out Isaac by mistake. Gabe doesn't make it and she blames herself. Jules has a break down and ends up in an institution. Isaac goes missing soon after and the investigators think its a serial killer who has been taking young boys. His mom, Amber thinks Jules has something to do with it since her and Isaac have formed a bond. Within seconds, life as we know is forever changed. Just one faulty connective in the scheme of things can cause a profound tragedy that just keeps on giving. This was... It started out strong, I was instantly hooked into the storyline, but somewhere halfway into the story or so it started to fall apart for me.I get Jules in a way. She makes the most sense out of everyone even if she is not mentally stable. The character of Amber annoyed me. Yes, she is a worried mom. But I find her incredibly annoying at times. Helicopter-mom, sorry. One of these righteous and condescending people. Isaac… I liked the way they talked about him, especially Jules. How they were there for each other in the beginning, sharing survivor’s guilt. Then the lines get blurred… Some months later, Issac goes missing. Is Jules behind his disappearance after building a "special" relationship with him, or is it a serial killer who is active around the area? The action never wavers, and the surprises are unending. Berry is writing at the top of her game.” — Publishers Weekly (starred review) All too soon after (mostly) living through an unimaginable trauma, a pair of Minnesota families are plunged into an even darker nightmare.
