About this deal

The Mandalorian Super Commandos cost 4PC with 0 force points, 8 stamina, and 2 durability which puts them in the average making them easy to list build with and fine from a health standpoint. But wait – why are we talking about Marvel Crisis Protocol when this was supposed to be about Shatterpoint? Well, Star Wars: Shatterpoint is being made by the very same team that gave us Marvel Crisis Protocol, and so far, it looks like it’ll feature the same level of accessibility combined with a serious deep dive into its setting that everyone loved about Marvel Crisis Protocol.

I know you will come for me, Mace. You should never have sent me here. And I should never have come. But what's done can never be undone. I know you think I've gone mad. I haven't. What's happened to me is worse. I've gone sane . And nothing is more dangerous than a Jedi who is finally sane." ―Jedi Master Depa Billaba to Jedi Master Mace Windu [3]When applied to physical items, shatterpoints worked much in the same manner. An individual would view an item through the Force, noting where it came together and also noting weak points in its composition. By allowing the Force to surge through them into the weak point, individuals could effectively "shatter" the object, causing it to break into multiple fragments. Because the Force granted supernatural ability to those who were adept in its use, materials thought to be near-indestructible were easily destroyed. Such was the case with Jedi Knight Jaina Solo, who effortlessly shattered a disc of pure Mandalorian iron while practicing the technique under her uncle, Luke Skywalker. [2] History [ ] In the same way that you don’t have full knowledge of every mission card you’ll play, you also don’t have full control of your Strike Force’s sequence of activations. Shatterpointrequires a mastery of reactive tactics. Your strategy must be flexible, you have to ride the winds of the Force. This is a squad building system that is both streamlined and full of depth: All the squad boxes you can buy for the game (see the last section of this article) contain full squads of Primary/Secondary/Supporting Units that match a theme in the narrative of their era, and if you want to play a squad that feels like something from the films or tv shows, that’s definitely the way to go. However, if you’re more interested in making the most of the game’s rules when playing competitively, you can absolutely collect all the teams and figure out what the optimal squad for your playstyle is by mixing and matching units from different sets for the best chance of winning. The game isn’t the first Star Wars miniature game at all – Atomic Mass Games already publishes the army scale wargame Star Wars: Legion and the two space battle games Star Wars: X-Wing and Star Wars: Armada – but the relatively large scale of the miniatures in Shatterpoint and the game’s focus on creating cinematic moments for your characters makes it perfect for imagining you’re controlling the most famous characters of your favorite setting.

Before we go into the finer details of Shatterpoint rules, there’s one particular concept of the game’s “language” it’s important to be clear about: Most of the logic of the game’s rules writing is built upon a clear distinction between the term unit and the term character: Home > Star Wars: Shatterpoint Star Wars: Shatterpoint Battle for the Fate of the Galaxy in Star Wars: Shatterpoint! It’s not all Light, however. Combat is also where my biggest complaint about the Shatterpoint system exists. Line of Sight and Cover are clunky and despite overly technical descriptions, often boil down to “everyone almost always has line of sight to everyone else” and “everyone almost always gets cover”. It isn’t just these, however. An early expansion includes Magnaguard which also have the Battle Droid keyword giving Kalani even more flexibility and expanding the overlapping aura of benefits. Again in the core set you can pair the Light Side Bo Katan with Dark Side Gar Saxon and all the Mandalorian Support Units to find yourself tossing buffs and out-of-sequence movement all over the place. Combat Crunch

What Other Products Are Available For Star Wars Shatterpoint?

a Character is a model in a Unit, even if the unit only consists of 1 model! This means that when the Dathomirian Dexterity ability on Ventress’ says that “Each character in this Unit” may Jump, it doesn’t mean that everyone in your squad can do so – it just means Ventress can Jump. This might seem an unintuitive way to write the rule, and it’s different than other Atomic Mass Games’ writing (Marvel Crisis Protocol would have said “This character may…”), but the great thing about it is that it makes the terminology and rules logic consequent across both single- and multi-character Units. If a rule says “each character in this unit” for a Supporting Unit with multiple characters, it means they all get to do what the ability says. Criticisms? The rules could be clearer in parts – the distinction between ‘Characters’ and ‘Units’ is a little bit head achey, the rules for pushing models near the edges of elevated terrain are written in awful legalese, and I’m still not sure I’m playing ‘priority objectives’ right. I haven’t mentioned the rules for vertical terrain – they’re elegant in play, work perfectly for the theme, but in the rulebook they’re a bit of a pain to read. Shatterpoint is a new smaller-scale battles game that immediately calls to mind Atomic Mass’ marquee game Marvel: Crisis Protocol. A trailer was released earlier today that shows off the very nice-looking miniatures, which are as follows (best I can tell): If building the minis can be a pain, painting is a joy. I used Army Painter Speed Paint 2.0 (provided as a free sample by Army Painter) over a white Stynylrez airbrush primer and was delighted by the results. The models have just the right amount of detail, flat surfaces, and texture for contrast paints to work exceptionally well across most of the models. Iplan to use some traditional acrylic paints for miniatures to finish the details, mostly because I enjoyed painting them so much. The clash of lightsabers. The whine of laser fire. Clone troopers leaping over barricades and ascending structures on cables. Jedi and their Padawans dashing and flipping over a battlefield. There are a lot of Star Wars tabletop games on the markets, but very few of them feel like modern Star Wars. Until now.

While players take it in turns to control a character, precisely which character that is is effectively randomized The game also features releases from the original trilogy, such as Leia, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, but it does have a unique focus on the animated side of the Star Wars Universe. When a model’s health pool is exhausted, they’re laid down and effectively taken off the battlefield. They can’t contest objectives, take any more damage, trigger abilities, and so on. The next time they would activate they stand up, clear their damage, and take a full activation before gaining a Wound token. At this point if their Wound tokens equal their Durability stat they’re removed.

The force is strong with this one

The Core Set comes with a single set of missions called “Shifting Priorities”. Each set includes a set up card (Core Set is a 3×3 grid of equally spaced objectives) and 9 Struggle cards divided into 3 Phases. You’ll only play with 1 card from each Phase per match and these cards indicate exactly which objectives are Active. Details are clear yet, but AMG has indicated that new Mission sets are on the way as well. Shortly prior to the First Battle of Geonosis, Mace Windu perceived Count Dooku to be a shatterpoint capable of ending the war. His attachments let his old friend live, however, and so Dooku was able to go on and initiate the Clone Wars. In only a short span of time, the shatterpoint that made Dooku the heart of the war disappeared. [5] Eventually Mace realized a number of shatterpoints connected with Anakin Skywalker, prior to Anakin's fall. Mace was also able to sense the Shatterpoint of Darth Sidious; his trust in Skywalker. [8] Mace Windu is a living legend: Jedi Master, skilled diplomat, and devastating fighter. But he is also a man of peace—and for the first time in a thousand years, the galaxy is at war.
