About this deal

Tau clearly mean business, though as ever it’s important to stress that the players winning with them are very experienced generals as well, sure to be a contributing factor. We’ll have a slight pause in observing metagame evolution in the UK next weekend, as the biggest event isn’t using the Tau book, but with a few weeks for players to pore over these results, we’ll see what emerges. In the meantime, congratulations to Alex on the big first win with the big new book. Vik Vijay – Tau – 2nd ✪ Place Adding some extra spice to a common archetype is a recipe we always like to see here on Competitive Innovations, and it’s great to see that it paid off for Vincent with a third place finish. The Rest of the Best As well as advancing the narrative of Warhammer 40,000, this book includes significant expansions for the Boarding Actions game mode. Not only do Dark Depths missions allow you to mix up your battlefields, the book also introduces multiplayer games for three or four players – be they two-on-two team matches or exciting free-for-alls. The hair was mostly standard highlights, other than around the scalp where I used small streaks similarly to the face highlights. The objects on the base are fairly obvious, only thing of note is that I did two washes of Athonian Camoshade. Broadside Shas’vre [5 PL, 90pts]: Advanced Targeting System, Crushing Bulk, Heavy Rail Rifle, Twin Smart Missile System [15pts]

Few things are as terrifying in a confined space as a Phoenix Lord. Jain Zar leads Boarding Patrol: Aeldari accompanied by five Howling Banshees, as well as 20 Corsair Voidscarred who can be assembled as any one of two different units. Boarding Patrol: Drukhari Farsight pilots an XV86 Battlesuit with a number of improvements, including an advanced Hazard Suite developed during the Arkunasha War and armed with a Plasma Rifle. [7] Since his experience on Arthas Moloch, he wields the mysterious Dawn Blade of unknown origin. [4g] The Eight Crisis Shas’ui [60pts]: Cyclic Ion Blaster [10pts], Plasma Rifle [5pts], Plasma Rifle [10pts], Shield Generator [5pts] The head itself was masked in silver and set upon a lance, and laid upon the highest walls of the White Scars' fortress, destined forever to stare out with its hollow gaze over the approach to the fortress-monastery. The White Scars' citadel is high in the Khum Karta Mountains of Chogoris; the road is long, yet the silvered heads of the slain line every pace of its passage.Allarus w/ Castellan Axe & Misericordia: 3x Balistus Grenade Launcher, 3x Castellan Axe, 3x Misericordia I experimented a bit with the face, using small strokes to place the highlights instead of thoroughly layered areas, it sort of worked and was fun so I might try and work on it a bit in future models. When I was working with Fenrisian and Kislev there were a few intermediate mixes between the two, I did not use straight up Kislev as that is a bit too intense. Don’t worry about proportions too much, it’s mostly what looks right for the particular model with details like this. Tau’s initial success was one of the big headlines from the weekend, but the incredible surge in Custodes performance was definitely the other, and Vincent here emerged as the most successful of the many, many players of the faction at Beachhead. Custodes have broken out rapidly enough that some of what here is increasingly standard – pretty much every build is sporting two or three Bike units, Trajann and one or both of the two super Shield Captain builds, and usually a couple of solo-Allarus, but this list has a couple of unusual elements as well. Warhammer Community: For such an important figure in the T’au Empire, Shadowsun is relatively unexplored outside of her combat exploits. How did you approach her character?

Fire Markerlights (Action): One or more MARKERLIGHT units from your army can start to perform this action at the start of your Movement phase. AIRCRAFT MARKERLIGHT units can perform this action. The action is completed at the start of your next Shooting phase. If this action is successfully completed, for each model in that unit that is equipped with one or more markerlights, for each markerlight that model is equipped with, select one enemy unit within 36" of that model that would be an eligible target for that model if its unit had been selected to shoot, and roll one D6: on a 3+, that enemy unit gains one Markerlight token.’ Following the Damocles Crusade, Aun'va recommended an expedition to rekindle hope and spirit in the empire, which had been dwindling since the bloody war against the Imperium. In the ensuing Farsight Expedition, Farsight led an enormous Tau fleet across the Damocles Gulf, going into frozen stasis to avoid aging during the long trip. [4f] In the ensuing campaign on the far side of the Damocles Gulf, Farsight was initially beaten at every turn by Grog Ironteef, the Ork Warchief of Alsanta. A frustrated O'Shovah nonetheless eventually was able to defeat Grog, and pursued scattered Ork forces to the world of Arthas Moloch. There, Farsight encountered a terrifying new enemy in the form of Chaos Daemons which emerged from a mysterious portal erected on a great Dais. During the battle, all of Farsights accompany Ethereals were killed by gruesome creatures, and Farsight was only able to attain victory thanks to discovering a mysterious blade he used to close the portal, though he was briefly overcome by extreme bloodlust [12]. The experience of battling these foes and gazing into their sinister portal rattled O'Shovah, who realized there were far greater threats than the Ethereal's were telling him. [4g] The book tries to make a point of Shadowsun’s duty and role to the Empire but much of the time this is driven towards thoughts of herself and how much of a legacy she might leave upon the world. More than once she effectively daydreams about statues being made in her honour after her death. While this was intended to serve a purpose with her decision in the conclusion, it contradicts the “cog in a machine” mentality and dogma which define the tau and makes many of her remarks seem out of place. The same goes with her talk about the planet’s beauty and of humans, many times they contradict one another or shift on a whim making her look like a hypocrite or sometimes overly petty. While probably intended as character development it isn’t written in a way in which her decisions develop and gradually change.Kor'sarro Khan, Captain of the 3rd Fellowship of the White Scars Chapter, wielding his power sword Moonfang. Only when Vargard Obyron took command did things go badly for the escapees. Several of the fugitives were slain by Obyron's Warscythe, leaving only Kor'sarro and an Asuryani Ranger by the name of Illic Nightspear to fight on, and the latter swiftly received a blow that sent him sprawling from the fight. Thus did the battle devolve into a duel atop bleeding bodies and broken machines. The young Shas spent much of her youth on Dal'yth as a student of the famed Commander Puretide alongside his other pupils Shoh and Kais. Together, they braved the harsh and frigid conditions of Mount Kan'ji. All three survived and were accepted as full students of Puretide. Shas would go on to become a famous subordinate of Shoh, who became known as Commander Farsight. [13a] Crisis Shas’ui [60pts]: Plasma Rifle [5pts], Cyclic Ion Blaster [10pts], Iridium Battlesuit [5pts], Shield Generator [5pts], T’au Flamer [5pts]

To be fair, I don’t particularly think that the Tyranids can afford to get very aggressive either, as a single monster thrown out unto the teeth of the Custodes will get stabbed to death, but because the attrition here favours them, that doesn’t matter nearly as much. In addition, on this mission in particular they have some powerful options for boosting their Primary in the mid-late game – once you’re deep enough in that you can afford to start throwing Dimachaerons or Harpies into sacrificial situations, you can ObSec one up with Synaptic Imperative and yeet it over to the opponent’s home objective for a sweet 4VP of Primary, making up quite a bit of a score gap even if you’ve been treading water on 6s and 10s most turns. That also forces them to scramble to actually clear it out our risk losing a point in their own turn, which is presumably extremely embarassing for the Custodian Guard. Since Custodes can’t as easily do the same in response, as Bikes aren’t ObSec and getting enough of them onto the Nids home one to out-hold the Swarmlord is going to be rough, you end up with a relative stalemate where the Tyranids have the tools to reliably pull Pair of Fusion Blasters - Fusion Blasters are anti-tank weapons that reduce reinforced armour to molten slag in the blink of eye. Should you read this? Yes if you are a fan of BL or tales about the Tau. If you are just arriving to 40K I would not reccomend this tale. There are better out there.None other than Mani Cheema, sporting yet another build where he’s taken something successful and gone “but what if we did more of that?”. His new Crusher list has a mere eight units, but they’re good ones – the mandatory Swarmlord and brutal flyrant, then two Dimachaerons and three Scythed Hierodules to trample opponents into the dust, a full Hive Guard unit to apply Swarm Leader to, and that’s it. Not complicated, but very potent – all the big beasts take serious killing and will tear stuff to pieces if they get close, and the acid sprays and impaler cannons in the list add up to a pretty massive chunk of shooting damage. The build is also very good at playing this mission – I happened to match into Mani in round 2 on Conversion, which has the same map, and in it he can saturate the mid-board with monsters then lash out in whatever direction is needed, relying on the fact that many lists will struggle to kill more than once a turn, especially once the Hive Guard have chipped away at opposing forces with the powerful combo of Relentless Flurry and Single Minded Annihilation. Kor'sarro and Nightspear parted ways shortly after, the Aeldari to his craftworld and the White Scar to Chogoris. Shortly after the Khan's return to his Chapter planet, Nemesor Zahndrekh and Vargard Obyron were added to the Scrolls of Venegance, their names to be put forward as possible quarry for the next Great Hunt of the White Scars Chapter. Commander Shadowsun has bested near every foe that dared to stand against her, but the Death Guard present an altogether new challenge in Phil Kelly’s Shadowsun: The Patient Hunter . With ancient warriors and corpulent daemons confounding her understanding of reality, O’Shaserra will need to test her understanding of Kauyon and stretch her abilities to the limit to prevent an all-out schism between her forces and her allies. Gaunt’s Ghosts: The Victory Part Two (French Edition)

Since the formation of the Great Rift, Shadowsun has been issued an upgraded XV22 Stalker Battlesuit equipped with twin Fusion Blasters and is accompanied by an MV37 Advanced Guardian Drone designated Oe-hei [13d] and a MV62 Command-Link Drone designated Oe-ken-yon [13d] [9]. Vashtorr the Arkifane’s quest for the Key-fragments is nearing its end, and the action turns to the dead world of Arthas Moloch in the fourth chapter in the epic narrative series, Arks of Omen: Farsight . Commander Farsight is just preparing to wrap up the vicious War of Dakka once and for all, when calamity strikes and his entire operation is jeopardised by the arrival of the Unhallowed space hulk and its Balefleet entourage.Asuryan • Cegorach • Gea • Hoec • Isha • Kaela Mensha Khaine • Kurnous • Lileath • Morai-Heg • Vaul • Ynnead The Goddess then grabbed hold of the Nephylum and held it in place, which caused Lord Glurtosk to lose his mind. [1i] Now that we’ve covered the basics of Shadowsun’s event, let’s go over the characters you are going to want to level and use during it. Like Commander Farsight, Shadowsun’s main use in an army is for getting access to the second Master of War activation; however, unlike him she is also able to contribute meaningfully to the action every turn of the battle, making her cost a much more palatable sacrifice. However, she is not immune to the usual problems of Tau and in fact exacerbates them in many ways, making her overall an underwhelming choice.
