About this deal

It treads a lot of the same ground as the other features but it’s nice to have Romero alone talking about the film. There’s a discussion about the remake too, which he was involved with (the commentary was recorded shortly before its release).

The UHD and Blu-ray discs are housed inside a nice gatefold digipak with plastic trays and artwork inspired by the film. Francine (Gaylen Ross) is an executive there and she and her partner, Stephen (David Emge), plan to take a helicopter and get out of the city, where the outbreak is really taking its toll. Extras: Language(s): English, Hard of Hearing Subtitles: English, Interactive Menu, Behind the Scenes, Bonus Footage, Commentary: George A.The Unrated Blu-ray included also sports the 4K remaster and it’s not even in the same ballpark as the UHD. His work here maybe isn’t as refined as his later work, but this is purely due to the sheer volume of effects in the film. Nevertheless, given the many laborious months and work performed by some very talented people on the first two versions, I must say their endeavor has paid off because the results are absolutely amazing, giving loyal fans the very best the film has ever looked on any format. Just a little background, both VHS versions featured on the first disc of this Blu-Ray release were censored, either by the BBFC or pre-censored by the distributor. What evolved was not a sequel to Night but a follow-on, a development of its ideas and themes wedded to contemporary social issues within the framework of what was to become Episode 2 of perhaps the genre's most celebrated trilogy – whether Romero's subsequent zombie films remain a three-part postscript or expand the trilogy into a fully fledged hexology is a matter of divided opinion.

For more about Dawn of the Dead 4K and the Dawn of the Dead 4K Blu-ray release, see Dawn of the Dead 4K Blu-ray Review published by Neil Lumbard on February 10, 2023 where this Blu-ray release scored 4.We’re thrown right into the thick of it with a TV news station struggling through what is likely to be one of their last broadcasts. You get to see him working on Two Evil Eyes, Land of the Dead and Diary of the Dead too and there’s a lengthy ‘Dead’ reunion section towards the end.
