About this deal

I was expecting a little more from new Joe Goldberg book! And I actually find Wonder a little flat, boring character. You're just going to put Joe in the middle of a new town/storyline, deciding to pave over (ignore, essentially) the previous ending that he was in jail, about to have a baby. The Quinn's paid him 4 million dollars to walk away from Love and his son? REALLLLY????? You Love Me” is the third novel in the obsessively addicting series, “You” (now a Netflix series starring Penn Badgley) . The good thing about this series is each novel is just as addicting as its predecessor yet, at the same time, you don’t need to read the other novels to be able to follow along (although I highly recommend it!) . Joe wakes up in a hospital with a gunshot wound. His nurse, Ashley, tells him that Love Quinn is dead. She shot herself after shooting Joe. Ray Quinn, Love’s father, then comes in and explains to Joe that they’re going to tell people that Love died of cervical cancer and that Joe was mugged in the casino. Caroline Kepnes must be some kind of storytelling sorcerer. How else can Joe Goldberg . . . besuch an entertaining narrator? This high-wire narrative act continues to work because Kepnes is brilliant.” — The New York Times Book Review

Joe text Mary Kay from Melanda’s phone and pretends to run into her at the salon where Mary Kay says she’s going. Joe pushes her to get a drink with him. Mary Kay says that there’s something “off” about Melanda suddenly planning on leaving town. When Joe tries to convince her to get something to eat too, Mary Kay finally admits that she’s married. She says she has no intention of leaving her husband or cheating on him. She apologizes for leading him on, but says that she has a family. But she also says she never imagined she’d meet someone like Joe. Thanks, Caroline Kepnes! You've given the people what they want - another fun ride on the Merry-Joe-Round. Why? Of course Mr. Goldberg keeps his secrets which prevent him to ride into the sunset with his love of his life. But this time her new woman has more obstacles to start a relationship with him. As a result: Joe needs to get action to terminate those obstacles one by one. But he shall not kill or hurt anyone! He has new principles, new rules. Is he closer to get his HEA? Of course not! Everything comes with price in his life. He lights another match to brighten depressed lives of small town’s people and now his fire can burn the whole place to the ground. Sarah Weinman from The New York Times gave a glowing review of the novel, stating that it "continues to work because Kepnes is brilliant at depicting the cognitive dissonance of someone like Joe. His stalkerish behavior steps over the line again and again, but in a way that is all too familiar to any woman menaced or made uncomfortable by the so-called “good guy." No doubt he'll return in future installments, demonstrating the shattered barrier between id and superego." [10] Sequels [ edit ] However, the storytelling is not as smooth in English as I would prefer. Sometimes, it feels as if the sentences were translated from other languages or forced to fit the paragraph.

You Love Me is no exception. Again, we have Joe’s obsessive and close first-person point of view, expressed in his unique way, calling the object of his obsession “you” in his thoughts rather than using her name. This novel takes the same tone, uses the same character archetypes and signature antics from the previous books, and ups the ante on Bainbridge Island. Also multiplied are Joe’s literary and cultural references. I felt like I needed to read more books and watch more classic movies to fully appreciate all Joe’s inside jokes. However, it didn’t diminish the reading experience. i love the unique trait of Nieza being able to see the unseen, it’s not something normally done in books i have read before. I know. I never wanted it to be this way. But I've wronged this group. I have done the unthinkable. And I respect you all too goddamn much to keep lying to you. Creating a structure for their often challenging days together was vital. Their neatly annotated daily diaries form the endpapers of the book, revealing the minutiae of a repeating grid of meals and activities.

Reasons I hate Mary Kay: she's married. And hid that from Joe. He should have been like OKAY MOVING ON. This bitch is nothing special. She's a liar, she's married, let me find a new conquest. But no. He perseveres for this bitch because... why? She has a daughter? He wants a family? So what. Manni was 2,000 miles away in Andalucia, Spain, where he runs a bespoke travel company, when he received the text message that challenged him to act upon the depth of his love.I am simply in awe with Caroline Kepnes' ability to make me root for the killer in this series. Yes, Joe is an obsessed stalker who will stop at nothing to have it his way, but everything he does, he does with so much love that we can overlook his homicidal mistakes. 🙈 Because after all Joe is human too, so he makes mistakes like you and me and he has a ton of issues, but in this book he tries so very hard to be good. (he's still disturbed af and it's now clearer than ever before) The only issue I had with this book and it's a small one, is that it became a bit difficult at times to follow the discussions because Joe was acting as another person. Does that make any sense? It slowed down my reading just a bit, because I wanted to be sure exactly what was happening. I think this is due to the second person point of view, and also because I'm obsessed with getting everything straight in my head where Joe is concerned. In fact, I may be a bit obsessed with Joe, in general. Fiendish, fast-paced, and very funny.”—Paula Hawkins, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Girl on the Train I also love the friendship between Nieza, Amy, and Hassan. I don't see the point of making Nieza and Hassan together. I don't know, but they just can't be together. But sometimes I cringed when the writer are trying so hard to portray their friendship. It just doesn't make sense, I'm sorry. even though norhafsah’s writing style is not really my preference, the simplistic writing style makes it easy for beginners to read the book.

Kepnes’s savage takedowns of pretentious blowhards continue to make Joe a more culturally aware Dexter, or perhaps a more romantic and humorous Hannibal, as he pillories the bad taste of his rivals and victims’ LitHub Kepnes’ series continues to be a sly, subversive exploration of what people choose to reveal and what they hide in their relationships, and just how difficult it is to truly know another person. That Kepnes manages to limn such heady subjects in such a compulsively readable way while serving up twists aplenty is the reason the series still feels fresh three books in. With the Netflix show, You, based on Joe’s exploits and set to return for a third season, there’s never been a better time to get acquainted with Kepnes’ dangerously appealing leading man.” –BOOKLIST (starred review) When Joe goes to dispose of her body, he gets caught by Oliver, a private investigator that the Quinn family sent to keep an eye on Joe. Oliver knows Joe received a big payout from the Quinns, and Oliver wants Joe to buy stuff for him in exchange for his silence. Joe agrees. I can only talk about my comparisons this book with two previous ones by telling you: THIS IS SO FAR THE BEST BOOK OF THE SERIES! After the rejection, Joe spins out a little. He decides to go for a run on a trail that goes by her house. When he gets there, Mary Kay is in the kitchen with Nomi and on the phone with Melanda. Joe listens in on her conversations. Then, he turns around to see that Nomi has spotted him. When Joe gets home, Melanda tries to convince Joe that she’s ready to move to Minnesota and not say anything about any of this to anyone. Melanda also admits that she has been sleeping with Phil, so that Joe has dirt on her. She says that he can find Phil’s DNA on the underwear in her laundry. She says that she wants out of this life and that her extended affair is proof that she knows how to keep a secret. Joe actually considers letting Melanda go, when suddenly Mary Kay shows up at his door. As with a young child, Manni realised that entering his realm of make-believe was the most effective way to engage with Reuben. Joe Goldberg is ready for a change. Instead of selling books, he's writing them. And he's off to a good start. Glenn Shoddy, an acclaimed literary author, recognizes Joe's genius and invites him to join a tight-knit writing fellowship at Harvard. Finally, Joe will be in a place where talent matters more than pedigree . . . where intellect is the great equalizer and anything is possible. Even happy endings. Or so he thinks, until he meets his already-published, already-distinguished peers, who all seem to be cut from the same elitist cloth. When I “wished” for this over on NetGalley, I figured I was doing so along with twelve gazillion others and never expected to get an early shot at this latest release in the You franchise. Then I had one of those seriously first worldy sorts of moments where I wanted to message the powers that be and tell them . . . . The other thing I didn’t much enjoy was the ending of the story. I thought a few alternative endings on my mind but I cannot share it with you for not giving spoilers. But this conclusion wasn’t the kind of Joe Goldberg kind of ending I expected!

giving yourself some therapy while getting paid thriller-series-contract money...that's great work if you can get it. So, rather than say, “Put your arm around me and let’s go for a walk”, Manni will say to Reuben, “Put your hand on my mane and let’s walk a while together”.
