About this deal

I know a lot of people feel differently about this, so please insert your own opinion here: I don’t like exposed midsoles because they can reduce durability. Do yourself a favour and invest in the Gel-Nimbus 24; your feet will thank you for it. ASICS Gel-Nimbus 24 review: Also consider This is not always true and I’ve been proved wrong by the likes of the Hoka Arahi 6. Not here though. The Gel Nimbus 24 has lots of gaps between its 3.8mm outsole which will undoubtedly cause wear to the midsole foam underneath. Responsiveness is something that I didn’t expect the Nimbus 23 to have but I found it to be slightly springy and I could push the pace below 5.15 per kilometre with relatively little effort. The Asics Gel Nimbus 24 offers runners a stable structure, thanks in particular to the Trusstic System technology. This technology is under the arch of the foot, and its main purpose is to promote the stability of the shoe on all types of terrain. The mesh upper has been redesigned to be simpler and more breathable, with a new gusseted tongue wrapping around the foot. For those who aren't too fond of more prominent structures, older versions such as the dynamic and light Gel-Nimbus 23 or the more spacious Gel-Nimbus 21 are more suitable. Traction and Grip

On the outsole, there are two types of rubbers on the Nimbus 23: AHAR on the forefoot and most of the rearfoot with more durable AHAR+ on just the tip of the heel. The wide-fitting upper is made from an engineered mesh with a gusseted tongue that has a nice stretch and drops nicely into place. Together with good padding in the heel and flat laces, it all combines to make it a very comfortable shoe to slip on. You’re also getting a pretty roomy toe box and it felt like a good fit for us in our UK size 8. From teenagers just starting running, to experienced marathon runners, the Nimbus series appeals to a wide target market and you can be guaranteed to see dozens of pairs of Nimbus’ on your run along the banks of the Singapore River or around the Marina Bay.The area where the Nimbus 23 beats the Triumph 18 is its plusher underfoot feel which makes it feel more luxurious. After 20minutes in the lab freezer, that score went up to 38.5N which is a bit of a jump by 39.5%. It may not be ideal if you want this shoe to last you all year somewhere you have hot summers and cold winters. I have an issue with the grip in the new ASICS lineup

The Nimbus 24 has a dual-density midsole setup. There’s firmer Flytefoam on the top, in the heel and forefoot with FF Blast+ on the bottom layer, throughout the length of the shoe. This setup makes the heel and midfoot slightly firmer than the forefoot and it also makes heel and midfoot landings more stable. The Gel Nimbus 23 was a really popular shoe, but 23 editions in, it was probably time for a bit of change. ASICS have placed a really modern, elastic mesh in the Gel Nimbus 24, especially in the tongue. The tongue is really long and stretchy which some people may not love. You get some trainers like the Nike Pegasus and the Brooks Ghost which have such similar rides from iteration to iteration that it’s hard to tell the difference between the old and the new version. The outsole on the Nimbus 24 is solid. It grips well on dry roads and rainy conditions, but more importantly, it's impressively durable. The extra rubber is placed exactly where the shoe will receive the greatest impact, and we’ve seen no early signs of wear that suggest it's going to lose that good grippy feel.

It looks sleeker than the Triumph 18, more agile than the chunky Clifton 7 and fancier than the plain Jane Glycerin 18. In the midsole there are two layers of Asics’s new Flytefoam Blast+ (FF Blast+) foam, which is a softer and springier version of the material used in the Novablast line of shoes. The top layer of the foam is firmer than the bottom, which combines with a plastic Trusstic plate in the midfoot to ensure the ride of the shoe is stable despite the introduction of the new soft foam. The women’s version of the shoe has a softer top layer of FF Blast+ and the plastic plate is a different shape tailored to women’s feet.

A softer, springier midsole foam means the Nimbus 24 is a more exciting daily training option than previous versions

Moving onto the midsole and you’re getting a combination of Asics’ FF Blast+ foam and also a layer of its Flytefoam to offer some firmness on top of the softer cushioning foam. You’ve got the customary Asics gel in the heel and the forefoot, with its new Trusstic plate helping to create a more stable feeling. It’s also modified that Trusstic system for the women’s version to offer that extra bit of stability. This, paired with the bottoming out in the forefoot makes me think that some of that midsole is already hitting the ground. Conclusion
