About this deal

Per the manufacturer of Tordon RTU Specialty Herbicide, it is recommended that you wait at least two years before replanting anything in the area.

After applying Tordon RTU to the tree, the herbicide will stay in the soil for up to 2 months before it’s fully broken down. Some of the active ingredients of Tordon was used in Agent Orange in the Vietnam war as a way to kill the brush and jungle.Rain can dilute the herbicide or even spread it to other plants that you don’t want to kill, so you shouldn’t apply Tordon when it’s raining or immediately after heavy rainfall.

Tordon is a very effective woody tree and brush killer. Proper care and safety should be taken when using it. Tordon’s main active ingredient is called Picloram which has been classified as Category E –“evidence of non-carcinogenicity to humans” by the EPA. It has also been found to be “practically nontoxic” to mammals, birds, and honey bees, but slightly toxic to fish. The canes of bamboo are hollow, and since bamboo has deep roots, Tordon won’t be able to reach those roots and kill the plant. For these reasons, Tordon is not recommended to kill bamboo. Will Tordon Kill Poison Ivy? Tordon RTU can be used effectively against a wide variety of trees, shrubs, and woody plants that are either invasive or taking up space on your property. Tordon will kill a tree in the Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall if applied to the cambium layer that is freshly cut. If properly treated Tordon RTU will effectively kill any tree at any time of the year. Tordon RTU should not be applied on residential or commercial lawnsor near ornamental trees and shrubs. Untreated trees can occasionallybe affected by root uptake of herbicide through movement into the topsoilor by excretion of the product from the roots of nearby treated trees. Donot apply Tordon RTU within the root zone of desirable trees unless suchinjury can be tolerated. The first step when you’re using Tordon is to gear up. Wear your protective goggles and rubber gloves as the herbicide can be very toxic, and never use Tordon without your protective clothing. Step 2: Cut The Tree

BEST ANSWER: Yes you can. Cut the wood cleanly and apply it in the amount specified (very small amount). It should kill the plant within a week or so. Just be careful not to spill, splash or allow runoff of Tordon on anything you don't want killed. After treating a tree with Tordon the tree should be completely dead within one week to 30 days. After a few days, Tordon should have affected the tree enough to remove the stump or root. Tordon RTU Specialty Herbicide would be best applied as close to cutting the stump as possible, but you can do it the next day if needed. You just want to be sure it is applied to a fresh cut stump, not one that has been cut weeks prior. Tordon RTU will last for up to 1 to 2 years when stored according to the product label. Store Tordon RTU in a cool, dry storage location.I wanted to figure out what the professionals used to kill trees. The most popular and recommended tree killer used by arborists is called Tordon. Simply apply Tordon to a freshly cut stump (within 30 min)and Tordon will kill even the hardiest of trees. My neighbor hired an arborist to cut down and kill two massive Elm trees in his front yard. Elms are some of the hardiest trees and Tordon did the job. Within a few days, both trees were completely dead.
