About this deal

For flexibility in tone at your fingertips look to the EXG Guitar Expander. The frequency response of the EXG is similar to normal guitar amp equalization. The lows and highs are boosted while the midrange is dipped out. The EXG is great for creating a fuller tone that doesn't get muddy, while keeping it clean and clear, letting your guitar stand out in the mix. Specifications The EMG SA is an active single coil loaded with an Alnico V bar magnet that provides a vintage Strat single coil sound: bright, airy, with a rich bottom end. With internal shielding and a low impedance preamp, you get virtually noiseless operation at a higher output level so that all the tone makes it to your amp. Additionally, the Alnico V bar magnet allows for the output to remain balanced during string bends, and makes for a playability and reliability that is unrivaled. The creamy mid-range warmth and sublime blues tones are clear, strong and expressive, and allow you to reach from classic and clean, to rowdy and raunchy. Like all EMGs they are dead silent, which is exactly what you want for studio use, or when using high gain, or on big stages with lighting rigs. Because EMGs are active and run off a 9v battery, they will power through any cable length without loss of tone, and if you have a big pedal board, they send undiluted signal to your amp, whether your pedals are true bypass or not. Yes, you do have to have a battery situated somewhere in your guitar to supply the tiny current EMGs need, and occasionally it will need changing, but if you unplug your guitar cable when the guitar is not in use, we are talking a long time between battery changes. I have had years of battery life out of my guitars. I bought the EMG DG20 set because I owned a Strat guitar and I wasn't happy with the sound, plus I am a fan of David Gilmour sound, especially during the Pulse era. The extreme versatility thanks to the SPC and EXP options will allow you to play almost anything with this set

The product works exactly as advertised, easy to install. Please note, you should buy a battery box and have everything installed by a luthier for best results, otherwise you must dismantle all whenever the battery runs flat. This configuration is SSH with the H being in the bridge position, right where you want it for a good distortion sound. This helps to massively improve your Strat’s earthy tones, as well as its mid-range. Specifications Please read instructions to get the best tones, and NOTE that Tone pots are not really TONE pots, they are special EQ's that you need to understand and practice how to use them. Takes away a bit of the chime that makes a strat sound like a real strat, sounding a bit smoother, darker and more compressed (the EXP circuit can somewhat compensate for that, if well used)

Less percussive/less note "projection", but this somehow allows the chords to sound much more massive and the lead runs more fluid, with great harmonic content. All in all, if you're willing to sacrifice that last wee bit of genuine strat sound, this setup will take anything you throw at it and make it sound, at the very least, decent. In most cases, awesome. I call it "the compromise setup". Also, the bk/bk option looks absolutely stunning on my natural finished 70's Classic Vibe. SPC and EXG tone controls are awsome, please explore their range and try to get the most out of themMake your guitar sound amazing at any frequency. The EMG David Gilmour Set includes an EXG Guitar Expander to give you complete control over your tone. It works by boosting both bass and treble frequencies, meaning you'll never be limited in the sounds you can achieve. When you want to deliver deep, driving bass tones, it's got you covered. If you're looking to solo at high-pitch with sparkling brightness, it allows you to do that, too. I got what I payed for, 2 clean tones and an overdrive one; for any other wishes, get a different guitar :) I justified paying the high price because of the ease of installation. EVERYTHING was pre-wired and good-to-go. No soldering. It was super easy. You should get an instant answer on whether your application has been successful, though in some rare cases Klarna or V12 may need to look at the application in more detail. You can change the 1N914 diode on the power to a lower drop Schottky (choose a type with a low drop as they aren't always the same) to get a little less drop. You can save 0.6V drop by removing the series diode altogether and instead using a *reverse* 1N4004 etc. *across* the power rails for protection. Read-up on parallel protection, this is fine to battery stuff like inboard preamps.

The EMG SA is an active single coil loaded with an Alnico V bar magnet that provides a vintage Strat single coil sound: bright, airy, with a rich bottom end. The creamy mid-range warmth and sublime blues tones are clear, strong and expressive, and allow you to reach from classic and clean, to rowdy and raunchy. "Strat Presence Control"On the second tone pot you have an EXG expander, which drops the mids and boosts the bottom and top. Great for clean rhythm or articulate acoustic type parts. When you add up the tonal options of a 5-way switch, three SA pups, an EXG and an SPC, you can see why I say if could only own 1 guitar, I would go for this assembly on a good Strat, because you will be able to deal with any style in any situation. If you have an oscilloscope you can tweak the voltage dividers on each of the opamps so swing stays symmetrical at lower battery voltages. That's usually done by raising the value of one of the divider resistors to the next available value, either the one to +v or one to -v depending on which rail starts to clip first. You will need to tweak all the dividers; highly likely they will all need to be adjusted by the same amount.
