About this deal

The fountain pen carved into the material is certainly this detail that differentiates us on the world market. The name Momento Zero, absolutely evoking, exactly means a new beginning, a start from scratch; the first pen made by a new company, based on experience and passion of a strong team. The Leonardo Momento Zero collection is inspired by the Italian vintage style, worldwide known; it’s a classic pen, well balanced with size and metal trims.

That being said, there’s no getting around the fact that this is a large pen. I show it below compared to everything from a TWSBI Eco to a King of Pen. The body is not as wide as the King of Pen, but it is longer and heavier. Maybe I’ve just gotten used to big pens over time, and others with small hands may not agree- but because the pen is so well balanced, and because the section works so well for me- I have no issues with the size of this pen. Salvatore showed us the magic of alighment. Turn the cap on the body of the pen. In up to three times, you will have the cap and body aligned. The magic of three. The Momento Zero Grande uses an in-house manufactured ebonite feed. The Japanese ebonite is cut and manufactured in the Leonardo workshop. Ink Storage

I have been bugging Dan on a regular basis about when the oversize nib version would drop since Dan first mentioned the possibility to me. He was kind enough to loan the Leonardo Momento Zero Grande in Blue Fiodacqua to me for review, and it was worth the wait. The Leonardo Momento Zero is the first pen in a long time that I’ve reviewed where I don’t have any significant critiques or “negatives” - it’s that good of a pen in terms of design, build quality, and execution. Of course, so much of this hobby is driven by personal taste that it’s entirely possible that you won’t be drawn to this pen the same way I am, but that’s how these things go. I will note, however, that the gold nib pens are wet writers - probably due to the use of an ebonite feed - so you’ll want to consider this when selecting a nib size and adjust a size down from what you would normally choose (i.e., if you’re looking for a medium, buy a fine). The pen comes fitted with a size 6 nib in either a 14 kt gold or stainless steel versions. The 14 kt gold nibs are available in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad and 1.3 Stub widths. The steel nibs are available in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad and 1.1 and 1.5 stub width. The nibs are manufactured by JoWo, but engraved and polished in the Leonardo workshop.Compared to some of my other pens, the Momento Zero fits right in at a length of 5 1/2″ (14 cm) capped and 5″ (13 cm) uncapped. L to R: Platinum 3776, TWSBI Eco Rose Gold, Leonardo Momento Zero, and Carolina Pen Co. Charleston Well this is what the pen is all about. The Momento Zero Grande pen is simply a wonderful writer. I used it to update my travel jounral on my 2021 trip through Italy. Lots of writing each day and it was a pleasure to use the pen. The Momento Zero was lovely to write with. I loaded it up with my Papier Plume Ivy Green and away I went. The nib was smooth right out of the box, and wrote beautifully with no rough starts. While the pen is gorgeous and I can’t stop looking at it, I have to admit that it might be a little big for my hand. (Remember – I have small hands and the Pro Gear Slim is totally my speed!) I can’t decide whether I care for the section, which is somewhat graduated, or whether I would prefer one that was a consistent circumference. Balance and Writing Comfort. Perhaps most importantly, the pen is perfectly sized and balanced for my hand - neither too long nor too short, and I can easily use it posted or unposted. The only other pens that hit this same sweet spot are the Montblanc 146 and, sadly, the Delta Fusion 82, which no longer exists (though one remains in my collection). The Leonardo feels most like the 146 in my hand, since the barrel is wider than the Fusion 82, though it’s much lighter due to the absence of a brass piston. Exclusive and selected materials, celluloid, ebonite, wood, special resins, bronze and precious metal, always with a vintage imprint.

You’ll also notice a few other changes from Leonardo pens in addition to the new Jowo nib. Starting with the 2021 Momento Zero release, the popular pen design will feature a thinner pen clip (similar to those seen on the Leonardo Officina Italiana Furore Grande pen), and three cap bands instead of the previous two. The name Momento Zero, absolutely evoking, means a new beginning, a start from scratch; the first pen made by a new company, based on experience and passion of a strong team. The Leonardo Momento Zero collection is inspired by the world-renowne Italian vintage style. It is a classic pen, perfectly sized and well balanced, decorated with metal trims. The new line uses an updated band at the base of the cap. The cap has a single broad 8 mm band with an engraved geometric art pattern. This replaces the series of rings found on the previous Momento Zero kunes. The Pen BoxWhy "Nuvola"? Inspired by the tranquility and elegance of clouds, the Nuvola reflects a sense of calm and contemplation. Just as the clouds move gracefully in the sky, this pen glides across the paper with the same lightness, offering an unparalleled writing experience.
