About this deal

I remember doing it years ago when I connected two routers together but when I set up the B618 last week I just connected a cable from one of it's LAN ports to the WAN port of the new Huawei Mesh wifi. On successful update you will see that under modes it now says Auto or 4G, 3G , 2G selection, when before was just Auto or 4G options. with mobile phones storming ahead with 5CA, and routers lagging, are there good budget options of phones that could be used as dedicated hotspots (for a small config - just tv/ipad/laptops)?

Would have thought Vodafone or O 2 would have been better in rural locations because of having more 800Mhz bandwidth. That again is a match for the 4GEE Home Router 2, but it’s notably lower than the 600Mbps maximum speed of the new Three 4G Hub. I am not saying it's the device that is deciding to give CA / 4g+, however it's the device choosing to stay on a band 20 cell where CA will never work until the device switches to the band 3 cell. The game changes completely when you add in ANY other band, sometimes possible with external antenna. The Huawei B525 router supports Quality of Service (QoS) settings, which allow you to prioritize specific devices or applications. Does anyone know how I can stabalise the connection better and throw some light on the correct banding? I downloaded it from a French site including PC boot loader software and windows drivers, took the cover off the router to be able to short out 2 wires so it booted into firmware mode and then connected it to a PC using a USB cable. However, even though you can tell it what bands to use I am assuming the control of whether or not what you have selected is actually used comes down to the cell sites equipment.

But I had understood from Three that there are no network restrictions on their SIM cards, the fastest speed the device supports is what you get (even 5G if you are able to get it). What is unclear is how the UK networks align, Vodafone and EE have the spectrum to achieve this, but seem to be rolling out mostly only in cities. Someone suggested that it would be under VoLTE settings, but not having that or VoIP options in my menus I'm not getting anywhere.aka - Wi-Fi 5) and is the current primary WiFi standard, although later this year you'll start to see more kit using the next generation 802. I am involved with support of Huawei LTE kit, but forgive me if my post seems like I'm some kind of expert (I'm not) - just giving my honest observations! Just to confirm I have also used LTEInspecteur to tell the router to use B1+B3 and flipped it back to automatic. Previously in one location 4G+ only showed during downloads which is how I understood it worked, in the other location it never showed 4G+ at all at any time. I made mine from 15mm plastic water pipe, galvanised fence wire for the straight elements and 3mm copper wire for the dipoles.

Indeed looks like all the good combinations are missing including as you say B1+B32 or B3+B32 from both models. The probem is that although it let me add a second SIP server to the B525 config, I was only able to set up one SIP account, so I couldn't use the second server. MIMO is PERFECT for you, and money thrown at the B618 will yield no improvement in speed; put the saving towards an antenna. We’ve mentioned three of the main alternatives elsewhere in this review – the Three 5G Hub, the Three 4G Hub, and the 4GEE Home Router 2. Of course, it’s no match for a 5G router like the Three 5G Hub, which averages 100Mbps and tops out at much, much higher. Should it be the B525, at 300mbs or the new B618, that claims to have all the bells and whistles as well as a 600mbs? Also, as you have two devices, have you tried swapping the sims between them - or is that what you are doing to test as is?

In fact it seemed slower than the two mifi devices I am testing - the Huawei E5785 and Netgear AirCard AC790. This work differently, a second router in DMZ actually leads to double NAT (hello DDNS or VPN for example) and "is not the proper way to do things" besides configuring everythin on one device is easy, DMZ in some case are dangerous (some protocols simply do not works in this scenario). In my B525 firmware there is a voip setting which I use with a Sipgate basic account, using a phone plugged into the B525 I do not get the drop to 3g but also cannot use the Three free minutes but the SMS still works.Does yours also have the ability to switch bands in the Web GUI then or just bridge mode functionality? I get about 3/4 bars with a Poynting Xpol-A001 up at about 3m and reasonable RSRP, but I also get 3 bars without the external aerial with bad RSRP , it definitely impacts the speed, so I concur with Jim. as I had no 4G signal until a few weeks ago when it suddenly started showing on my mobile - I guess the comms mast was upgraded. The device clearly has say on which cell it connects to, and must be using some internal logic to move over to a poorer cell site that will support ultimately better throughput. The better your problem and question is described, the easier it is for other Huawei owners to provide you with a good answer.
