For film adaptations, Harry's wand measured approximately 14 inches long, as opposed to 11 inches in the books. [27]

The four chosen locations - Hull, Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent and Reading - were voted for by the public and will each host the exciting installation for seven days. J.K. Rowling's drawn design for Harry's wand in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child included a reference to "veins" on the handle. FEBRUARY 2022 – The stunning Wizarding World [w]and installation is set to visit four locations in the UK this [s]pring to celebrate the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledorein cinemas on 8th April 2022. The Unofficial Ultimate Harry Potter Spellbook is a stunning, tasteful reference that lists all the spells that have been used in the Harry Potter movies, novels, video games, card games, and authorised spinoffs like Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. More than 240 spells, charms, curses, hexes, and jinxes are included, in addition to a list of magical items. In the Xbox/GameCune versions of Chamber of Secrets, the wand's tip glows sky-blue instead. The GBA version also instead gives off different colours as indication for which spell Harry currently has equipped.Harry's wand was well suited to him, in a lot of ways a perfect match. Harry had a notorious temper, that at times made him somewhat terrifying to his friends. He also was shown to be impulsive, making many decisions on the fly. Harry faced a spiritual and dangerous quest when he, Ron, and Hermione went a hunt for Voldemort's Horcruxes. This quest tested his limits and shook the faith he had in himself and those around him, but at the same time made him a stronger individual. The same prior wand design was also used in several of the older video game adaptations, along with the colour of the wand itself varying from game model to artwork established outside of the films. Harry has also performed powerful magic with this wand, such as the very advanced Patronus Charm (at age thirteen), [9] [10] [11] an impressive Shield Charm, [12] [13] [14] [15] and many other advanced spells he had to learn at a young age.

This tour was originally announced a whole three years ago, not long after the wand installation’s London debut, but no one knew then just how long it would take for the third Fantastic Beasts film to come together. Eight finalist cities were voted on, and the four winners were revealed in fall 2019, when the third film was still expected in fall 2021. Though any wand can potentially switch allegiance, most hold some degree of loyalty and attachment to their masters. By contrast, the Elder Wand is ‘dispassionate and ruthless’ in its need for power, forming no true bond with the wielder. Hull, which received the most public votes, will launch the tour, followed by Birmingham [and] Stoke-on-Trent and ending in Reading. Installation consists of nine 15ft-tall [ sic] wands representing nine beloved characters from Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films The wand chooses the wizard. That much has always been clear to those of us who have studied wandlore... These connections are complex. An initial attraction, and then a mutual quest for experience, the wand learning from the wizard, the wizard from the wand." — Ollivander explaining wands' connections to wizards [src] Hermione Granger: " You're still really angry at me, aren't you?" Harry Potter: " No. No, Hermione, I know it was an accident. You were trying to get us out of there alive, and you were incredible. I'd be dead if you hadn't been there to help me." — Conversation after Hermione accidentally broke Harry's wand [src] With that in mind, consider the Elder Wand’s decisions in the final two books. The stand-off between Draco and Dumbledore was fraught with emotion – Dumbledore knew he was about to die while Draco raged an internal war with his own morality. At Malfoy Manor, Draco was once again conflicted while Harry was determined to escape and finish his quest. In both scenes, emotions ran high and everything was at stake. It was enough to affect the Elder Wand, even when it was not present at the scene. Dumbledore’s words on the subject are open to interpretation: ‘No witch has ever claimed to own the Elder Wand. Make of that what you will.’ There have been several misconceptions surrounding its ownership

This wand was stolen by Ron from a Snatcher and gifted to Harry when the former returned to the group. As its allegiance was not won by Harry, the wand did not respond well to him, making all of his spells seem weaker than they had before. It was left behind at Malfoy Manor when the group escaped. This was the wand that Lord Voldemort carried for most of his life. After his final duel with Voldemort, Harry likely won the allegiance of the wand (if it was still intact at the time). However, given the fact that Voldemort used this wand to murder Harry's parents, it is highly unlikely that Harry will ever physically possess, let alone use, the wand.

I believe that your wand imbibed some of the power and qualities of Voldemort’s wand that night, which is to say that it contained a little of Voldemort himself. So your wand recognised him when he pursued you, recognised a man who was both kin and mortal enemy, and regurgitated some of his own magic against him. Your wand now contained the power of your enormous courage and of Voldemort's own deadly skill." — Harry's wand's reaction to Lord Voldemort [src] Each spell is given its entry, including the name, pronunciation, and etymology, a description of the spell effect, appropriate wand movements, and explanatory notes. Fun facts about each spell are also included, such as who it was used against, what happened, or its exciting history. There are also handwritten comments scattered throughout for observant readers.

Also in the first three video games via the PS2/Xbox/GameCube versions, Harry's wand glowed at the tip with its lighting effects "leaking" from the said tip. The colour often varies however: Could a witch have owned the Elder Wand at some point? It’s possible, especially if she did so stealthily, unknowingly or if it simply went undocumented for whatever reason. After all, entire centuries of the wand’s history remain unaccounted for. One witch even claimed to have killed the wand’s then-master (namely Loxias; the claim was made by his own mother). And what about Tina Goldstein in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? We saw her disarming Grindelwald. If Grindelwald had the Elder Wand at this point – did this make her the master? A statement from a representative of WarnerMedia UK & Ireland says, “We are delighted that this stunning installation will be touring for the first time next month and the magic will be shared with even more fans. Following a nationwide vote, it’s exciting to know that we’re bringing the wands to the biggest Wizarding World fans across the UK as we celebrate the upcoming release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore .” This was the wand carried by Draco Malfoy throughout his years at Hogwarts. During the Skirmish at Malfoy Manor, Harry disarmed Draco and won the wand from him, and ultimately used it until the end of the Second Wizarding War. Its ultimate fate is unknown. The Wizarding World wand installation, which first appeared in fall 2018 in London to mark the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, will finally hit the road to tour the United Kingdom this spring in celebration of the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. The set of nine 15-foot-tall wands will be displayed in four cities that were voted on by the public: Hull, Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent, and Reading.

Perhaps the most famous fallacy surrounding the Elder Wand is the supposition that the prospective owner must kill the current one. This came at a cost for Lord Voldemort, who falsely assumed that murdering Severus Snape was the key to the wand’s control. Though killing has been a popular method of claiming the wand (see the ‘long and bloody history’ section for examples), it is by no means the only way. Holly wands are said to be suited to wizards who need assistance overcoming anger issues, and those engaged in a dangerous and spiritual quest. Harry Potter dealt with overcoming anger in his adolescent years, partially caused by a shared connection with Lord Voldemort through the fragment of soul Voldemort accidentally left inside Harry. He was also prophesied to be the one to kill Voldemort, and engaged in a year-long hunt for Horcruxes in an attempt to fulfil this prophecy. Ollivander also noted that a mix of holly and phoenix feather, if properly matched, would result in a nigh-unstoppable wizard.
