About this deal

Once the Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ has written the needed files to the SD card, it is simply a matter of hitting the record button when needed. When the middle of a button is solid red, the button is ready to record, and once you press the button, the 4K60 S+ indicates it is recorded by flashing the outer edge. Pressing the button once again will save the video to the SD card and makes it ready for any kind of content creation you could want. “As with most of the Elgato capture range, the Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ also supports zero-latency delay, making implementing the device as part of your workflow easy and painless.” The UK has a reputation for being a cold, rain-drizzled place in the North of Europe. In truth, though, the summer months can be ridiculously warm, compounded further because most buildings aren't designed for air conditioning. Reviewing this unit right now, it's 87F (30C) where I am, and while this isn't necessarily the capture card's fault, it surprised me how warm the 4K60S+ gets even when it's not in use.

Inside of the Audio menu inside of Settings, we will want to be sure that Sample Rate is set to 48Khz. Our ElgatoGame Capture devices natively operate at 48Khz. Setting this to 44.1Khz can cause audio stutter, audio drifting over time, or other anomalies. Similar to any capture device from Elgato, everything you need to get started is included inside the box. You will find the Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ capture device, 2x USB-C cables, an HDMI 2.0 cable, a power supply with multiple connections for multiple regions, and an instruction manual. The only thing you will need to supply is either a PC or an SD card to record your footage onto. When 4K60 S+ is used in standalone mode and video is recorded to SD card, the source resolution, frame rate, and dynamic range determine the recording resolution and frame rate. For a head start in setting up OBS Studio, you may want to try the Auto-Configuration Wizard. This Wizard can be found under the Tools menu. Firmware updating is generally not needed anymore for any currently sold Elgatodevice. They usually already have the latest firmware.

Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+has a delay of around 200ms. This number can vary based on the sources resolution, frame rate and setups. Desktop Audio refers to the sound that comes out of your system. Default will attempt to use the same device as you have set for your computer. But if you have a specific setup which you don't wish to have change, you can specify a specific device. The Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ is for content creators who want to upgrade their channels in a big way. For starters, it can capture 4K HDR gameplay directly to your PC or SD card. Yep, this is Elgato's first capture card to use stand-alone recording via an SD card, which is a massive plus for console games and a long-awaited feature from veteran Elgato users. While the 4K60 Pro does something similar in terms of what it can capture, the S+'s extra portability is what you should care about. There is a fantastic blog post by Mystery Box which is very thorough and covers everything needed to know about editing, grading and delivering HDR using DaVinci Resolve, more than is needed to edit a gameplay video - https://www.mysterybox.us/blog/2016/10/27/hdr-video-part-5-grading-mastering-and-delivering-hdr

You may need to make sure OBS Studio is properly using the analog input on your Elgato Game Capture HD60 S+. Open up 4K Capture Utility. Go into Settings, then Device tab. From here make sure the Elgato Game Capture HD60 S+ is selected. Then change the Audio Input from HDMI Audio to Analog Audio. Close OBS Studio and open our 4K Capture Utility software to see if a signal comes through. If no signal is appearing, you will need to do some general troubleshooting. Even with these slight hiccups in mind, the Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ delivers some truly stunning video. The ability to record without the need of another computer can be a game changer for many, especially if you go to events, or want to bring exclusive gameplay capture to your viewers that simply can’t be done with a full recording kit for whatever reason. This function is for essentially turning off the device from OBS Studio or turning it on. This can be helpful if you’re experiencing issues as a way to soft reset the device. More information in #Troubleshooting. Configure Video In rare cases, a firmware update can actually harm the Elgatohardware. This is why it should always be done under the supervision of Elgato Support, under very specific circumstances. Since Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ only writes video files to the SD Card, the sustained write speed is important. This setting will change the container of the recording to MKV. MKV is a corruption resistant container, meaning that if the recording should fail or the SD card is removed during the recording, the file is still usable. Note that not all video editors are compatible with the MKV container. This USB-C port sends the captured video to your computer via USB 3.x. The USB captured video preview has a latency of around 250 milliseconds (ms).
