They sound better than all Apple earbuds before them, deliver excellent noise reduction, and add proper water resistance. What’s more, these are the first Apple earbuds with swappable silicone ear tips, making it easy for just about anyone to get a comfortable fit. Another benefit of true wireless earbuds is that they offer great sound quality. Many models come with noise cancelling features, which means you can listen to your music or podcast without any distractions. They also have a built-in microphone, which makes them perfect for making phone calls. The truth is that wireless earbuds across the board have struggled with durability, so this is a major cause of concern for us. Since some of these models are quite new, we are reserving the right to re-evaluate our conclusions as we become aware of any major issues or pain points as time goes on. Battery life is total of 30 hours with the case, with 4.5 hours per bud, and because of that long overall stamina we didn’t need to charge the case as often as we thought we would. You don’t get fast charging or any form of wireless option that you can get with similarly priced EarFun Free Pro 2 or Creative Outlier Air V3 but to emphasise their eco-outlook the charge can be limited to 80% to help prolong use. The charging case will stop charging automatically and the indicator light on the earbuds will go out when fully charged. On the other hand, we applaud Bose for adding onboard volume control to the earbuds about a month after release via swipes up and down on the right bud. In addition, the versatile Bose Music app allows you to adjust noise cancellation levels in multiple ways, the loudness of your own voice during phone calls, and other parameters (though we would have loved some form of EQ). It’s always been a tight tussle between Bose and Sony for the top noise-cancelling true wireless, but on the evidence of the QuietComfort Earbuds II‘s performance, Bose is currently the top dog. It’s worth saying a bit more about that sound, as it’s among the best you’ll find in the genre. It’s sweet, smooth, accessible, and yet riddled with detail. And thanks to the stark canvas provided by the powerful noise cancelling, it’s all the easier to enjoy. You’ll find tranquillity with these earbuds on a level that’s hard to find with any headphones, let alone tiny earbuds. Bose has never been one to stuff the headphones full of features, and QuietComfort Earbuds II follow the same path. There is a three-band EQ to change the sound profile of the buds within the app, and the wireless performance is excellent, with barely a hint of a dropout noted. Take both earbuds out of the charging case and both earbuds will power on and start pairing automatically (If the earbuds are not connected to your device for more than 5 minutes, the earbuds will automatically turn off Press the MPS button for about 3 seconds to manually turn on the earbuds when prompted “Power on”.) The indicator light of one earbud will flash red and blue alternately, and the indicator light of the other earbud will slowly flash blue when paired successfully.
