About this deal

If you chose this fantastic book you will not regret it you would finish a page and wont to read it over and over again. Fast-moving, very funny, and gleefully mining the comic potential of the superhero genre, this is an inventive story that handles the combined frustrations and affections of sibling relationships with sensitivity. It was funny that the little brother wanted to be a superhero but he couldn't because he needed a wee. It is infused with the spirit of larger than life heroes and colourful comic book trivia yet at its heart is a touching relationship between siblings… so brilliantly plotted that one never knows what to expect next.

Rory Rooney is unremarkable in almost everything, apart from his capacity to attract the attention of the school bully. David Solomons’s My Brother Is a Superhero, illustrated by Laura Ellen Anderson, just took the Waterstones Children’s Book of the Year award. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This is a good book however i think that i would have enjoyed it more if there was a bit more action and mystery. Even if you do you are no where near the frustration of Luke the poor little kid who missed his chance of getting super powers because he needed to pee! That even the smallest of things (like going off to have a wee) could make you lose the chance of fame and living with the richest of people. The two are going to have to team up if they’re to save Bromley (and the world) from certain disaster.

David also won the 2018 Laugh Out Loud Awards (Lollies) with the second book in this series, My Gym Teacher is an Alien Overlord. Winner of the British Book Industry Children's Book of the Year 2016 Shortlisted for the Sainsbury's Children's Book Awards 2016 My brother is a superhero, I could have been one too, except I needed a wee. Lots of references to superheroes but you can enjoy the book without having extensive knowledge of this genre, although it’s frustrating that the reference to ‘14 fingers’ is never fully explained?

There are many other funny things about this book but this is just one thing you will enjoy about it. He was born in Glasgow and now lives in Dorset with his wife, the novelist Natasha Solomons, their son Luke and their daughter, Lara. One brother is a comic book kid and the other brother prefers to have nothing to do with comic books. It's about two brothers, the younger one is in to superheroes and comics and the older on is on his phone all of the time.
