Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface Specs: The Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 comes with eight of its own built-in inputs, two of which are accessible via the front panel via microphone/instrument combo connectors. The rear panel features six additional microphone inputs, as well as eight line inputs; users may connect line inputs and microphones concurrently and toggle between the two, but the interface is limited to eight inputs total. For access to the extra 10 inputs, you’ll need to bring your own ADAT- or S/PDIF-compatible equipment and connect it to the corresponding ports in the rear of the interface. This slim audio interface is fully equipped with the inputs, outputs, and digital synchronization with other devices you’ll need. Getting started with the 18i20 Speaker Switching - This allows you to enable single button switching between output pairs 1-2 and 3-4.

The third-generation Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 boasts the expandability of audio interfaces more than twice its price, making it a compelling choice for growing home studios. Please note that the below steps are not relevant with Zoom. On Mac computers, Zoom will be able to accept audio from all inputs on a device, but there is currently no way to choose which specific inputs you wish to use. Please refer to this article for Zoom set up on a Mac. Requirements: Hi-res 24-bit/192kHz converters give recordings stunning clarity. High dynamic range and ultra-low noise makes sure Scarlett sounds just like you.

Three Month Avid Pro Tools Subscription: get a taste of the industry-standard recording experience with this legendary DAW The microphone preamps and converters on the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 have very similar specs to those on my Apollo x8, with a comparable gain range of 56 dB and a maximum 24-bit/192 kHz AD/DA conversion rate. These stats more or less mean that the 18i20 is capable of recording at or above the industry standard for audio resolution at a level comparable to that of interfaces two, three, and even four times its price. While the technical reality is a bit more complicated than that, as all-in-one devices like the 18i20 often make technical compromises for the sake of saving space and cutting costs, the 18i20 should still have no trouble producing high-quality files that are up to industry spec. Your interface is now ready to use! If you're using recording software then make sure you select the Focusrite ASIO driver in the audio settings for that software.

All the mains-powered Scarletts will work, connecting either with a C to C USB cable or using the Apple USB-C to USB adaptor. The iPad Pro supplies enough power to bus power these interfaces, no external power/powered USB hub is required.

18i20 third-generation. Getting started with your Scarlett 18i20 third-generation.

The 2Pre USB will NOT work, without mains power as the iPad Pro USB ports are not powerful enough, as this article mentions. Super easy setup and I honestly expected the Focusrite nit to sound quite as good as the much more expensive RME but I was really surprised with the quality of the pre amps and DAC on the Focusrite kit. The software control is very flexible and makes hooking up external fx and other outboard a breeze with no latency issues. I can recommend this combo to anyone looking for a high quality 16 input interface . The steps below will work for most VoIP applications that only accept audio from the first one or two inputs, such as Skype, Teams, Discord, Teamspeak, and Facebook Live. Remote Devices (not shown) -If you want to control Focusrite Control remotely using Focusrite Control for iOS, compatible devices will show up here for enabling. To connect these units, you can use a USB Type-C to C cable (not supplied), or an Apple USB-C to USB adaptor with the USB cable in the box.
