About this deal

Like in Breath of the Wild, each Splatoon Amiibo can be scanned in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom once a day for various in-game items. During a Splatfest, any part of Callie's appearance that is normally pink changes to match the color of her Splatfest team, including the ends of her tentacles. This represents her normal ink color, as seen in her amiibo figure and squid form in Super Mario Maker and Miitomo.

The band's name in Japanese, " シオカラーズ" ( Shiokarāzu) is a portmanteau of the Japanese word シオカラ ( shiokara), which is salted squid that's fermented in its entrails, and the Japanese romanization of the word 'colors', or カラーズ, ( karāzu). If the player scans either of the Squid Sisters amiibo while in Inkopolis Plaza during Photo Mode, both of them will disappear from their seats inside the studio and the character that was scanned will spawn right next to the player. In Splatoon 2, while the Inkling Squid and Inkling Squid 2 amiibo share the same dialogue and features, the game differentiates between them. The rewards given by the original Inkling Squid amiibo are as follows:

Although it is known that Callie and Marie are cousins and judging by their appearances, it is assumed that they are the same age. Well, not “sisters,” exactly—these Inkopolis idols are actually cousins. They used to make a great team as pop stars, news anchors, and co-hosts of the awesome Splatfest events. But now Callie has gone missing! Can you help Marie search for Callie and the Great Zapfish while battling against the Octarian army? Before Splatoon was released, the Squid Sisters were not idols, but were instead planned to be "shrine maidens". They were meant to transmit divine messages from God to the Inklings. This is why they were in charge of receiving and announcing Splatfests in the first game. [14] If the player stands outside the Squid Sisters' studio, they will notice them and wave, as pictured in the Gallery. During the Inkopolis News, when discussing weapon preferences for Moray Towers, Callie says, "Rollers are super effective here!" [4] This is a reference to the Pokémon games' type effectiveness system.

They both seem to have different mouths than other Inklings, as the other Inklings' mouths are their ink color, but Callie and Marie have red mouth insides, like humans. Splatoon amiibo can also be used in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity once a day with a limit of five amiibo figures per day to earn weapons or items. It is mentioned numerous times in Inkopolis News dialogue that her favorite weapon class is the roller and her favorite special weapon seems to be the Bomb Rush. For her second outfit, which was shown in promotional art for the Japanese Grasshopper vs. Ant Splatfest, Marie wore a white yukata with a seashell pattern in lime green, navy blue, and dull purple. The calamari accessory had taken on a dark purple tint in addition to its existing colors. Callie, along with Marie, first appeared in Issue 1 of the CoroCoro manga Splatoon, where she announced the CoroCoro Cup. She and Marie are hosts and commentators for that tournament. She also told Team Blue about Booyah Base along with Marie. Both Squid Sisters are clever and passionate about not only their music but entertaining their fans. Callie is optimistic and peppy, with the occasional sarcastic remark. This makes her a good foil to Marie, who has more pronounced sarcastic and lazy tendencies. In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Inkling Girl and Inkling Boy characters' appearances are based on their amiibo counterparts from Splatoon, including the recolors. The Squid Sisters first appeared in Volume 1 of the CoroCoro manga Splatoon, where they announced the CoroCoro Cup, as they hosted and commentated for that tournament. From Volume 1 to 3, they commentate all of Team Blue’s matches. In Volume 3, though, they appear as Agent 1 & 2. Since they’re no longer the news anchors in Splatoon 2, they disappear for some time in Volume 4 to 11, replaced by Off the Hook. Later, in Volume 12 both Callie and Marie appear again for the Hero Mode arc as Agent 1 & 2, with them being in the same position as they would be in Splatoon 2 Songs [ ]

For her second outfit, which was shown in promotional art for the Japanese Grasshopper vs. Ant Splatfest, Callie wore a red-orange yukata with a white jellyfish pattern and straw zōri sandals with purple thongs. She accessorized with a green shiso leaf with orange splotches on the left side of her head. On the right side of her head is a pink and white hat resembling ika sōmen—a squid sashimi dish from Japan—on top of a shiso leaf. The sashimi can be seen briefly flying off when she jumps, as it only rests on top of her head. In Version 1.1.0 of Splatoon 3, the Octoling Boy had yellow ink on his Octobrush rather than reddish-pink (reddish-pink being the color of ink used everywhere else on the amiibo). It should be noted that none of the above bonus items are necessary to enjoy the game to its fullest, but they're fun perks and fashion accessories to enjoy if you happen to own any of the amiibo. In Splatoon 2, the Octoling amiibo speak with many grammatical errors and unusual phrases in their dialogue (most notably the Octoling Octopus). This is likely due to the Octarians not speaking Inkling often. In Splatoon 3, this is not the case and the Octoling amiibo speak in a more normal manner.

During Splatfests in Splatoon 3, there are six different color combinations that Callie and Marie can perform in. The Squid Sisters reunite at the end of the Octo Canyon missions. Callie later mentions that they have performed alongside Off the Hook, referencing the real-life concerts in which they performed together. On February 10, 2018, the Squid Sisters made a special appearance at "Haikaraibu" (Japanese: ハイカライブ, translating to "Inkopolis Live"), which was held at Tokaigi 2018. [6] After Off the Hook performed Ebb & Flow, Callie and Marie went on stage to perform Fresh Start, followed by Spicy Calamari Inkantation. Afterwards, both the Squid Sisters and Off the Hook performed Now or Never! as the finale. When the New Squidbeak Splatoon finally reaches Craig Cuttlefish, they are heartbroken to find that their grandfather has presumably been dehydrated. However, Cuttlefish is revived after a tear from the Captain falls on him. On 8 July 2016, their third live performance was held at Japan Expo 2016, a convention dedicated to Japanese pop culture in Paris, France. [6] It had the same setlist as their second concert, with the dialogue in between songs shown in French. The live band's stage presence was also given more of an emphasis in this concert. Later that month, a live album featuring recordings of the first two concerts, Splatoon Live in Makuhari -Shiokalive-, was released in Japan on 13 July 2016.The group eventually reunited during Enter the Octobot King!. As the final phase of the battle with DJ Octavio began, Callie and Marie performed the Calamari Inkantation, revealing their true identities as the Squid Sisters, freeing Cuttlefish, and spurring Agent 3 to defeat Octavio. The two revealed the Great Zapfish's return on Inkopolis News, not disclosing their part in its rescue, and performed Maritime Memory over the credits. With work forcing the Squid Sisters continually further apart, Marie began to worry that the Splatfest had harmed their relationship. Eventually sharing a day off, the two met up to dispel their worries and agreed on taking a short trip home to Calamari County. However, Callie never arrived, prompting Marie to leave and search for her. Realizing that the Great Zapfish had also gone missing and Cap'n Cuttlefish was not around to guard DJ Octavio, Marie left to Inkopolis Square to find an Inkling who could help her. On April 30, 2016, Splatoon JP announced that Squid Sisters' Amiibo will be released on 7th July 2016. [7] Over a year later, on 30 April 2016, a second wave of figures was announced, including Callie, Marie, and recolored versions of the three amiibo from the previous wave. They first launched in Japan on 7 July 2016 and in the rest of the world over the next two days. Callie: " It's so foggy I can't even see the ground!" Marie: " That's called draw distan- Er... It's smog. *COUGH*"
