Each animal needs a specific food you will have to produce. As soon as they hatch, all of them will need your attention. You start with some basic creatures, which will evolve into more complicated sea-critters, which my daughter all called dog and cat (even though they were clearly not). Immediately after hatching, the little critters in Fantasy Friends Under The Seaneed to eat – initially a baby bottle until they evolve, a wash (under the sea) and then some love. You can say what you like, but they can’t hear you, so you have to show your love by petting, then entertaining them with one of the many mini-games. A magical fairy named Aurea guides the player throughout the game. The only problem is Aurea speaks in Animalese like the animals in the Animal Crossingseries. It’s very cute, but if this game is aimed at young children, the dialogue should be simplified, or Aurea should have an actual voice to help young children. Also, the font isn’t very kid-friendly either. I would expect the font to be larger and more appealing, like something from the LeapFroggames.

And yes, this version also challenges you to collect hundreds of colors and skins for your pets and challenge your friends to see who will have the most unique creatures. Be the first to find the rarest ones since you’ll be the only one playing with them. But hey, you can always put on the game as a screensaver, instead of an aquarium or fireplace. It doesn’t appeal to me at all, but for the intended market, it’s been a winner. Even though the mini-games were better, some toys were really pointless. For example, with one toy, you just swing it around your pet’s face, and this is considered one of the “games.” There is barely any actual interaction with the pet except for your pet showing excitement in the same manner every few seconds. These kinds of cheap animations and gameplay are things I would expect from a free-to-play game from the App store, not a fully paid console game. Pros: Explore the plaza, add decorations, get new magical sea creatures, buy them new clothes or even cooler toys to play with, and decorate the plaza with incredible fun items!

Little digits will need to stroke the on-screen eggs for them to hatch, revealing a pet. The first one, which I’m assuming is across the board for all players and not random, was a kitten. An easy option as kids will either like kittens or puppies. It’s essentially a Tamagotchi-type game which would work equally well on mobile too with its touch-like commands. The purpose of the game is to build a world of pets/friends, with ice cream trees and glittering streams – it’s everything a little girl could want, and more so that I could return to Bloodborne. While the first one felt like an abomination from hell, the second one feels a bit more polished. The whole sea theme is well done and the waiting times I hated in the first entry are shortened (which makes the game more paced).
