I fount the TR2 just felt heavy and the ride was very dull - Divide feels more agile in comparison and the ride is smoother and more responsive. While there are faster, bouncier, more responsive, and more dynamic shoes out there, the Divide has absolutely earned a place in my trail shoe rotation as a daily trainer. The all-new air mesh upper in the Brooks Divide 3 offers even more breathability than previous models — as well as tons of comfort accompanying that breathable mesh.I can’t say how much intentional design thought went into this, but I’m finding that it really works well. If, however, you find the Brooks Divide 3 too thick on the upper material check out the Adidas Terrex Agravic Ultra trial shoe which I find has a similar sole stability support but is slightly more neutral around the heel counter and a thinner upper with more ventilation.

I have a hard time finding usage for it, but if the fit works for you, it’s a great moderate terrain, long distance racer - I saw a bunch of them out at Canyons 100K last week.The Divide 3 is stiff, rigid, and supportive while still providing cushioning for long-distance running. These continue to provide rearfoot security while taking pressure off the back most portion of the calcaneus, which is sensitive in many people (where the Achilles inserts). Although there is a tongue guard and overlays surrounding the front of the shoe, there is plenty of room up front without being sloppy. The heel counter is set to be fairly neutral but I it found to be more supportive than other neutral door-to-trail shoes.
