About this deal

With vibrant, in-your-face, colours dominating the new Contrast range additions, it was important to ensure those paints have the best possible undercoat to be applied on to, and so we are also releasing our brightest undercoat of the modern era, with White Scar spray. (which also replaces Corax White spray). Following in the footsteps of Wraithbone and Grey Seer sprays, White Scar spray has been developed to provide a perfectly flat and smooth surface onto which painters can apply any of their new Contrast paints, and as it’s our brightest undercoat, it’ll also provide the very best base for your customer’s miniatures when they use Contrast colours. When they do make combat, the Frightful Touch of the Nighthaunt is enough to stop the hearts of the bravest enemies. Whenever Nighthaunts make a to-hit roll of six, they automatically wound the target without making a wound roll. Nighthaunt charges are particularly dangerous. After completing a charge move with a Nighthaunt unit you’ll look up the unmodified charge roll on the Wave of Terror table, which will afflict your charge target with a debuff; that might reduce the target’s accuracy, or even apply the devastating Strike Last effect. These are: Kroak Green (24-29), Poxwalker (24-30), Targor Rageshade (24-31), Mortarion Grime (24-32), Tyran Blue (24-33), Berserker Bloodshade (24-34), and Soulblight Grey (24-25) Lady Olynder is the most powerful Nighthaunt special character, and one of Nagash’s most powerful generals. In life, Olynder was a schemer and liar. Manipulating her way to the royal court of her kingdom, she murdered her husband-to-be and claimed his empty throne. She wore a veil of feigned grief for the rest of her mortal life. To accomplish those skin tones I did just what I mentioned above. I did add a step where I washed the skin. So, I painted it a very light color, washed it to give it shading, and then applied a glaze.

Rhinox Hide: As a rich brown paint, Rhinox Hide can be used to create depth and shadows when paired with Hexwraith Flame. This is an analogous color pairing, where the two colors are adjacent on the color wheel. Rhinox Hide can be used to darken the Hexwraith Flame, create shading, and balance out the bright, ghostly green. Most of the time, I will mix at a ratio of about 2 parts medium to 1 part paint. If I want a more subtle effect then I’ll simply add more medium. If you want a stronger glaze then use less medium. This is where I diverged from Duncan’s tips. Why? Because I wanted to do my own thing and this stuff is like magic. It’s a “Dry” paint so it looks very funky. That’s because it’s intended to be used with dry brushing. You’re going to want to hit the entire model with this step. This is also the step you’re going to really be able to tell if you clean the models well or not. Dry brushing will showcase all your mould lines and if you did a crappy job, you’re about to find out… Geek & Sundry Painters Guildis hosted by Will Friedle as he explores the wonderful world of the miniature hobby! From painting minis for board games, miniature wargames, and RPGs to scratch building showpieces and creating terrain, you can learn alongside him from master teachers every episode.I’m using Hexwraiths to showcase the process as I didn’t take pictures when I was working on the actual models in Soul Wars. You know that part about reading instructions and taking your time. Well I might have cheated that step a little. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Unless you plan on adding another batch of Chainrasps…that’s what I keep telling myself anyhow. Painting The Nighthaunts That’s all there is to glazing. I’m sure I could write more and bore you all to death, but that’s the basics of it. All offered in 18ml pots, and the old formulations of Gloss Shade paints (Nuln Oil Gloss, Agrax Earthshade Gloss, Reikland Fleshshade Gloss and Cryptek Armourshade Gloss) are leaving the range.

The Shade paint range has also taken advantage of improvements in paint technology, using technology from the latest Contrast range, into our Shade paint range. Making this new and improved reformulation of shade paints the best Shade Paints we’ve ever made. The new Shade paints do exactly what they did before, but better. The general aesthetics and narrative of the factions were taken into consideration when choosing to offer these particular armies. The spectral Hexwraith Flame would compliment the mechanical and cybernetic advancements of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Notice those interesting tones in the flooring? That’s from playing with different glazes. I mean, everything is glazed, but I think the flooring more shows the interesting tones you can get with it. Hands and skulls can be made with any bone color, lightened with white. Technical paints don’t look nice here. Also, don’t forget that all the weapons should look rusty and used. Retributor Armour: As a metallic gold paint, Retributor Armour would complement the spectral, shimmering quality of Hexwraith Flame. This color combo is a classic complementary color pairing, with the gold acting as a highlight to the ghostly, ethereal green of the Hexwraith Flame.
